Which Wheels?
« on: January 16, 2006 - 12:31:11 PM »
Hi.
Well I finally got the car here in Auckland, NZ. To remind you its a '70 Gran Coupe Convertible (604ci) I've decided to keep it off the road and spend about 6 mths getting it my definition of 'Show & Go'. This will include engine out and detail engine bay and engine (relocate battery to boot, hide all wiring, electric power steering ++), work engine to approx. 800hp), 6 sp Richmond to 6 sp Auto, Interior work, carpets etc, chrome, mouldings, S/S, rubbers etc....
.......and change the rear end (NOT shortening the Dana 60) to accomodate a 9-10" rim. Also changing the 'stance' a little. This will mean new wheels, so my question is what recommendations do you guys have for a 17 x 9-10" rim? I personally like a deep dish rim (NOT chrome)
Oh, and the car will be getting a Laser Straight Jet Black paint job as well.

Thanks, Russell.

How it looks now.

Congratulations vs!  Very nice ride!     Doesn't look like much needs to be done from the pic.  Good luck getting it like you want it.  Please keep us posted on your progress and as always----post the pics!  The wheels that are on it look fine to me.  :cooldancing:  ....Oldschool

Lovely ride mate!!  :bananasmi

You you thought about Chrysler style billlet wheels? The modern approach to the 56 Series style wheel.

Thanks everyone. Its gonna hurt the pocket a little but as someone said the other day 'its worth it as its a '70 Gran Coupe Convertible'  :bigshades:

Hi NZ440R/t - Thanks for the link but they don't really do it for me. I'd also prefer a soft lip deep dish if possible. Wheels have to be right. I've been looking at Summit online as well...but nothing yet.

No worries mate, also try Jegs. They are fantastic, I have ordered two sets (10 rims) from them and they both came within 4 days of ordering. Super fast, almost scary fast.  www.jegs.com

Thanke. Nothing seems to jump out at me. Looks like I may be able to fit a 10" rim now. Don't seem to be a lot of 17x10" rims around.

It's basically up to you, your ride your taste.
You don't like chrome (good!) so that eliminates a few brands and styles in that size.

Let us know how you get on.

Not saying these are the ones, but would you pick any of these for a Black '70 Convertible.

Yip, either the first or last one for a "rad ride" type MoPar.

Here, check out this web site with "X-Treme" MoPars, big wheels far out paint jobs.

I ordered these here, with valve stems, free shipping for 716.00 would of been 70.00 less but I needed a custom back spacing...
