The situation is becoming anxious. I have no right to probably make these comments and will sincerely appologize to any who may be offended, and as Tropicalcats has said, this ain't preaching, just a call for some help and support.

I beleieve there are a few here that could buy Burpins car with little or no financial pressure. And many more could make some contributions to this site project. To anyone who could possibly just buy the car consider this: You purchase the car, first this immediately helps Burpin get out of his predidtment. You then can be a good friend as well to the site and hold the car if neccesary for another year for us to aquire the funds neccesary to help another friend,CudaGuy. Don cannot be at Carlisle this year but will be there in 2007, this is another 16 months of time to collect the money to then as a "club" to purchase the car from you and present it to Don at Carlisle in 2007. If we cannot raise the funds you then have the option of just selling the car to get your money back.

No "club" or group of people can help everyone all the time, so why are these two people being put at the front at this time? Well, Burpin needs our help and he has humblly  asked if we can. You or I could do the same if placed in such a predictiment. Don knows nothing of the phase II of this situation, so why is he picked to receive such a generous "gift"? Well, Don is just like most of us, an average "Joe" trying to raise a young family ( well I guess I'm not like him because I'm an old fart still hanging on,lol), Don had been in the military before, but the civilian workforce was just making him spin his wheels trying to provide for his family. Unemployment forced him to provide by re-enlisting in the Marines. Would have I done this? Seriously doubt it, not with the past and recent tinderbox our world has found itself. He served his term in Iraq, and now is there again. No, no one forced Don into this situation, but his self pride and determination to provide for his family has put him there. And, no he is not there alone, he is one of thousands around the globe serving out country and trying to bring sercuity and peace to our world. Don however is one of us here at c-c.c, and when he awakes in the morning and does his job, he may not see the sunset one more time. I won't go on and tell you what Don represents to me, but personally he is a special young man who makes me pround of men and women like him.

Enough, bottom line this site is trying to help two of our own, and time is running out for the deadline for Burpin. Can we do it? I honestly know it can be done ! Question is who can/will step forward and help us all out. None of you really know me, I'm a little rough around the edges  :roflsmiley: maybe Don and Burpin are too  :roflsmiley: But I'll say this, if I could buy Burpins car, I'd do so..........and I would gladly and humbly give it to my friend CudaGuy. But honestly I can't, but as I said earlier I feel some here could. But I don't expect anyone to give the car away, give the rest a chance to share in helping too. Give c-c.c another 16 months if necessary to buy the car from you, whoever you may be.

An old southern group called the Lewis Family sang a song called "An old chunk of coal", the song goes on to say how that chunk of coal will one day become a diamond. Well, we don't have that kind of time, but I do know there are a lot of "diamond grade" people who belong to this site !

Please think about and consider this, thank you..............you know me as whitesatinmopar, but I know you all as my Mopar buds, and I hope we all can collectively help our two friends. Thank you for your patience. - Jim

:iagree: Good point WSM and elegantly said! One thing I noticed and I'm not complaining, just trying to make a suggestion to maybe help this go a little better. On the list of people who donated, I don't believe it should show their contributions. The reason I say this is the contribution isn't for the person who donated to be recognized for how much they gave only that they gave. For example some people who donate 20.00 may have donated as much as someone else who donated 200.00 in relation to their situation. Personally I would just show who is helping out and show the total received so far. You may get more of those 5.00, 10.00 donations. After looking at some of the other large donations, some may want to contribute and it may be a little embarrasing for them to put in 5.00 and have it displayed so they don't. Any amount will help. The more members who send in just a few dollars the faster we can see that Cuda going to CG when he returns. Once the goal is achieved, the list of names and their contributions could go to BC and CG.

Let's make it happen Mopar Fans!!!

:iagree:  Good point Plum6pak.  I would feel a little self conscious about a donation I make if it's going to be posted.  Everyone is in a different financial situation.  Due to medical reasons I haven't been working for over 1 year.

I think it was done that way so everyone could see that the math was done correctly and all moneys do go into the charity.  After all  . . . this is a non profit organization!  But I definitely see both side of the situation.

That's exactly why I put the names and amounts...so I am accountable to everyone.  If anyone would like to be listed as anonymous, I'd be happy to list them that way.

Sounds like a good idea Rev about anonymous donation amounts not listed. However, if you keep watching the total amount on a regular basis, you would be able to determine what they did donate.
Therefore, the total shouldn't be adjusted until multiple anonymous donators are done at the same time.

I would love to do that as I'm trying to raise money here for our cause, but I don't feel right stopping a no reserve auction.  Sorry.   :sadwavey:

TC I think she was going to put the amount and make the name anonymous.

Idea, If anyone has any connections with a big-time vendor that would be willing to donate or sale at cost something like a 360 crate motor and have a raffle for the cause. They could take it on the road all year to all the shows they attend. Somebody like yer1
  :money: :money: :money:

They could become the OFFICIAL widget supplyer of CC.C, Put their add on the home page, keep their link on all main pages for the next ten years no MILLION years. Pledge our never ending devotion.

A lot of suggestions, suggestions help but without a whole lot more effort on the members part, this won't get done. This is your chance to really make a difference, it's your choice and I really respect that but if you think about what we are doing here, it's gonna make you feel real good when this all comes together and see Burpin get his car sold and Cuda Guy getting the car when he returns from doing a great service for all of us! No political viewpints here, just facts. Let's just do what we can and this could still happen. Time isn't on our side without more help. You know, Burpin could have just eBay'd the car and not sold it to CC.com for this cause. Let's roll!

I don't know how to ask this and not seem like a skeptical selfish ass ?
[ Except that I was a veteran in a war zone, and currently volunteer at the local zoo- to the benefit of children and animals]

Is there a particular reason CudaGuy cannot afford a Cuda, or to save for one ?
I couldn't find the reason in reading all posts in the secret section.

I understand boardmembers would like to provide an awesome surprise for a returning vet. :drunk: :worshippy :angelwings:

Military Service members in a war zone get special hazardous duty pay above and beyond their normal pay .
Also Service members in a war zone do not pay Any taxes on their earnings while in that zone.
If he and his family can manage money, he should return with maybe several thousand in incentives for being there.
Married members also get VHA + BEQ , or equivalent[ housing  $$ allowances for family/self that single servicepersons usually do not get- they are expected to live on base and like it]

I'm all for helping people in dire situations beyond their control.
 Am I missing something ?? ???   { Besides compassion as some may think   :nono:}

I am new here, and think some people have a hard time giving $$ so someone can get a free car. Most of us scrounge to get parts for our own projects. I'd love to help burpin out if he kept his car, but have a hard time with this give this guy a car. Maybe he is a great guy. I think reposne would be better to have tickets for 100. and have a raffle. If someone wins the car and wants to give it away then fine. This is just my opinion on why everyone hasn't rallied for this cause. Sorry if I have offended anyone.

No offense here, and if you can't or don't want to do anything that's fine. But please don't judge some of us here or Burpin or Cuda Guy. Bottom line, this is a hopeful project that will be accomplished, and those participating can (as you or anyone else) give/use their money the way they choose. Flat out as I've stated prior, if I could financially buy and give this project would be completed, but I and many others can't, so we are still trying. Don't feel badly for not participating but please at the same time don't become condencending or judgemental of anyone.
