T/A exhaust
« on: January 18, 2006 - 04:52:45 AM »
I was asked a question yesterday that I had no idea the answer to, and thought this would be the best place to find it. When the T/As (& AARs for that matter) were made, were the side exiting exhaust pipes sold in all 50 states, or was there one that balked at allowing them, and the cars sold there were sold with rear exiting pipes? He seemed to think it did happen, and the state was Connecticut, but I had never heard that. Can anyone here knowledgeable on the TA cars give me a definitive answer? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure but you might want to PM Alaskan T/A (Barry).  He'll probably know if anyone does.

I have not heard of any state that did not allow them, they were even legal in California.

The thrumpets where shipped in the trunk, maybe someone didn't want them and installed rear exit instead?

you would need different mufflers & hangers would have been added to the trunk floor , some T/A AARs had one mount there but not both , then the rear valance & tips would be needed as well
