Hello
I"m curious on what is a better block a 383 or 440? What is the difference between the blocks or are they just the same block wiht a different bore? I"m also cuious what a 383 becomes if the block is bored and stroked?
thanks

The differences in the blocks are the deck heights, bore size, stroke length, and the mains are different sizes. The 383 weighs a little bit less and when stroked it comes out to about 438 CI...it is less CI than a 440, but it will have a much lighter rotating assembly....so I would rather have the stroked 383. However, for pretty much the same price, you can have a stroked 440. If you want a stroked 383 then you cant beat this one that a forum member has for sale....
