Dana rear end

While looking around an old junkyard today, I found a Dana 60 in a Dodge van. It is a 3/4 ton rear end, i guess, cause it has the 8 lug wheels. Is the housing the same? Could you get different housing ends & axles to place it in a challenger?

Sure cut it down I think dont you then buy some axels and put the pads where you want. 

The only difference in trunk dana's is the lack of a pinion snubber provision.  Of course the axles too but you can change them I believe.

We used to nodify a lot of Danas like this , the housing ends are available for use with green brgs , new 35 spline axles are required as well
no the bad news , the Van diff is offset to far too the right to work in most stock width B & E body cars , the ford & Dodge  3/4 ton diffs will work & are easy to get

AHHH I did not know they were offset in a van... Good to know.

My friends and I have found that it is worth it to just buy a new rear end if you are swaping out. Unless you find the exact size you need, by the time you pay someone to modify the tubes cut new axles and all that you could have bought a brand new set up from Moser or someplace like that.

Well I found a 3/4 ton truck Dana 60 suregrip. I could have got it for $60 bucks, but I didn't need it.

50/50 , with the work involved to modify a Dana it generally runs $1000 approx + time to order parts & run around & a new assy is $1500 or more & shipping to here is expensive so for me it is easier to modfy them

I called DTS and Strange.. both wanted $2500 or so for a full brand new set up dana WITH disc brakes.. cut off about 6-700 bucks without the brakes. This also included a pinion snubber and all. They start at 1800.
