Anyone have advice for changing a rear main seal? Engines on the stand.

Machine the Aluminum rear seal housing .010" on a cap cutter to provide additional seal crush, especially if it's been align honed on the mainline. Old "Dandy Dick landy" trick.

Yes, I've heard that this works well.  Also, dip the end seals in varsol before putting them in  (quickly).  Staggering the ends helps too.

OK I don't know what a cap cutter is or Varsol.

For machining the rear seal housing you will have to take it to an engine machine shop.  Varsol is a solvent.  Also, make very sure to install the seal in the correct direction as it can easily be installed backwards.   I believe that the lip faces inwards towards the engine.  The package usually has a diagram showing this.
