Need oil pan advice

I am ready to purchase the rest of the parts I need for my ending this weekend, however I have run into another wall. I want to know if anyone is running an aftermarket oil pan and if so, what kind and how is it??? I basially want an oil pan with a 1-2 qt over stock reservoir because I am going to run a high volume oil pump, however I dont want the pan hanging out under the car and for that matter, I dont even want it to be noticable. Does anyone know of a pan that fits my parameters??? Thanks

Hay killer, i am running a milodon low profile 7 qt. oil pan,  i have no problems what so ever, clearance is no problem, and i am runnin tti headers 17/8 headers, again , no problems.

Another option that kinda the stock route is to get the 6qt 440/Hemi pan...

IF he's running a big block. Also, whatever you buy don't go with a chrome oil pan.

I am in the same quandry as Killer.   LIke him I am running a high volume oil pump and want a few extra quarts in my oil pan.   On ebay I am seeing alot of 7 quart oil pans for around $60.   They dont look deep.  Has anyone purchased any of these.   If my memory is correct Mopar is nailing you for like $140 plus on the 6 quart oil pan.   That seems steep for just an oil pan.

I haven't had to buy 1 of the Mopar 6qt's in a while--didn't realize they got so expensive :22yikes: The milodon might be the best for the money.

Forgot to say that this was going on a stroked 400.....

Todd383, did the milodon use the stock pickup???

No it didnt use the stock pick up, get the milodon one, and they also have a windage tray too,

I have a 7 quart milodon on my 70 challenger 440 and it does hang down below the k frame and I have ripped a hole in it once, bottomed out after going over the crest of a cross street at about 60mph other than that I havent had any problems, im also using the milodon high volume oil pump with the 1/2 inch pickup and I would suggest using the fram HP1 oil filter as the standard filter fram PH8A blew up first time I took it to 6500rpm. no problems with the HP1s.

Im assuming you meant 31580 because I couldnt find a "35180" and the 18328 pickup is made for a "31580" oil pan according to summit. The oil pan looks pretty nice, however it cost 365 bucks and the pickup is another 70....too expensive for my linking. Thanks for the suggestion through.

Yeah, I heard to many horror stories about Fram.....I plan on using K&N or Wix filters with the new engine.


Is anyone running the Milodon 30930 oil pan on there cars??? Pretty decent price and it holds 7qts......

Hey killer, i think your lookin at the wrong thing, i bought mine from jegs,pt#,697-30930 and i paid 170.00 bucks for it and a 3/8 pickup pt.#697-18325, 35 bucks, and i think the windage tray was 50 bucks, i dont have my receipe for that, all under 300.00.

Nope, was looking at the right pan. The 35180 is over 350 bucks just for the pan. The one you mentioned is the one I found on summit for 173.88.....I think that is the one I am going with.

I ended up buying the milodon pan from summit with the pickup. I haven't put the engine back in the car yet, but this pan seems to be the only other option for a pan that doesn't hang below the k member on a big block besides the hemi pan. There is no comparison between the factory baffles and the trap door setup in the milodon pan. If you have access to a welder or know someone who is a good welder you can buy a road race sump kit from moroso for around $150 and weld it to your pan core yourself. Then I sold my stock oil pan, windage tray, pump and drive on ebay for close to $100 to offset the cost of the milodon pan/pickup and windage tray.

Ntstlgl, what is the part number of that oil pan??? It doesnt look like the 30930......
