WOW NZ you're interior looks VERY good in the pics!!I was wondering what you did to the panels to get them looking so good since you had wanted to replace them .

Thanks mate, just been thoroughly restored.
I won't be looking for replacement's, they are original so that definitely helped the final look. You should also check out www.ridesthatrock.com (Rev & Redlines) website. The site shows their panels being restored and how they done them. They also came up well and are by far the best finish one can get.

Cheers,

A year or 2 ago I read an article in one of the car mags that talked about a shop in LA that redid dashes, is that Ultimate Rides?

Doug, Ultimate Rides is in El Paso Tx. I've been there a couple of times.

Thanks for the link to the ridesthatrock website! Some one who has gone thru a job like this has a better appreciation of the work it takes to have a nice car. It looks stunning.but back to the panels; can a person restore them if they are all chaulky? My panels on the front seats have like a 1/8 inch on them and the door panels aren't much better. One more question do the different years have different door panels or are they the same? Thanks

Different years are slightly different. As far as restoring chalky doors it's pretty hard to get a show quality finish, impossible basically. No grain, no quality. Mine came up great, but along the bottom and slightly up top there is a couple of smooth patches where the grain is thin from years of rubbing and use.
If they chalky area is small you will hardly see it once complete or you'd have to look real hard to find it.

Definitely worth giving it a go as the original panels give by far the best finish.

Do you have any photos of your panels?

just curious..does the vin tag with rivets come off with the pad?
or do you have to remove the rivets to pull the pad?

The vin tag with rivets comes off with the pad.
If your getting a new pad you will need rivets for the vin.
I got mine off e-Bay.
