318 6-Pak ??
« on: February 01, 2006 - 11:44:47 AM »
I have a '70 318 motor with stock compression (.020 over) pistons.  It has 360 heads with the 2.02/1.88 valves, stock intake with an AVS 4-bl and headers.  I think the stock compression was 9.1 (?), but is probably a little lower now with the 360 heads (??) Don't know the origin of the cam, but it seems somewhat aggressive in the low end and has only a slight lopey idle.  Would a six-pak set-up be too much for this motor?  This motor is running with a 4-speed, 2-1/4" exhaust and 3.55:1 gears.  Any opinions??   :2cents:   :working:

the 6 pack when set up correctly is awesome , it will only open to demand & is very tunable , so yes it will work with the 318 , & yes the 360 heads are slightly larger than the 318 heads so compression will drop .5 approx

I had a 6-pack on my 318 and it screamed like a wolf(after really much tuning) but couldent keep it since it would have broke, but then i put 340 heads on and i will try again, it should be more right(after recommends from a Mopar guy) så your will work just fine i think...

Most stock 318's (in the 67-72 range) end up about 8.1 to 8.6 stock compression.
Never got to mess with a six pack much........sure would if I had the chance!
