71 challenger tail panel nuts
« on: February 01, 2006 - 01:14:23 PM »
Any chance someone might be able to tell me or show me what nuts secure the white metal tail panel to the body of a 71 challenger?  They look like they might just be self tapping nuts but I don't know they may be a self tapping cap screws also, I just need to see a picture of one.   Thanks Dave

They are just tinnerman nuts, nothing special about them.  Any local hardware store should have them.  http://www.fastenersuperstore.com/images/tinnerman.jpg  i couldn't find any good pictures but the one in the top left of the picture i linked is a tinnerman nut.  Now if this is wrong someone please correct me, my tail panel is just held on by those so... :misbehaving:
