Question on 1971 R/T Challenger trunk emblem
« on: February 06, 2006 - 11:17:26 AM »
Is the "DODGE" emblem on the trunklid correct on this 71 R/T Challenger?
Supposedly this car was pictured in the 'Cuda and Challenger restoration book.

Thanks.

I can't recall ever seeing one in that position.
Looks to me like someone had some fun with their spare grille emblem......

My '71 318 Challenger had that emblem in ths same place. It is quite a bit different than the grille emblem.

Make that two yes's, Barry knows his stuff better than me.
I haven't seen one in person either...looks very similar to the grille emblem from here.  :dunno:

I think it looks pretty good, probably better without the wing on.

Year One lists a trunk lid emblem on their website for a 1971 Challenger but when you open the picture the description changes to a 1970 Challenger script trunk emblem and the description changes to a 1970 Challenger.

Does anyone have a close up of the 1971 Challenger "DODGE" trunk lid emblem?

I can't find that particular emblem listed with any of the major Mopar vendors.
The car I posted a pic of is currently on E-bay.
I guess I could E-mail the seller and ask about the emblem.

Thanks for the replies and the excellent pic.

Sure does - 2965 502

Have you tried Tom at R/T Specialties? If he does not have it I bet he knows who does.

Best of luck,

I didn't see anything listed at R/T Specialties site but I'm going to E-mail him.

I did a search for that part number and the only site I found listed that part number as the hood DODGE emblem ???
It listed 3505433 as the trunk lid emblem

Do you mind if I use your parts manual pic as a reference?
