    Could you imagine the liability associated with altering a car intended for street use. If that thing came apart and people were killed, someone would certainly lose everything they had. I don't think that any insurance company in the world would write a policy for that kind of liability.

    Challenger convertible into Barracuda convertible?

    Since this question was posed 9 years ago, it's actually gotten more difficult to find a decent 70-71 barracuda convertible project car.  There is a good Challenger convertible project on Ebay at the moment and its "only" bidding at about $7,000 - not terrible for a solid chassis car these days.

    Some replies here warn against cutting up a hardtop car and I agree.  I had a 2009 Challenger custom convertible and it was well done - but it had some issues with the top and quarter glass.

    So back to the original question - anyone out there actually take a real 1970-1971 Challenger convertible and make it into a Barracuda convertible?  I'm sure the firewall, floor pans and trunk floor are similar; but are there any differences in the door length, inner fender well length, etc.? 

    What should I be aware of with a project such as this?

    to answer the original question the roof will not interchange , the 1/4 window shape is different at least the width may be different also

    I believe there is a difference in overall length between the two cars as well. Not sure where the difference is, but one thing I have found, the hard headliner on a Gran Coupe is shorter than a Challenger SE/RT. With that in mind, a Cuda/Barracuda trunk lid is shorter from the rear of the window filler panel to the tail panel. Just don't think it is going to work without rebuilding the entire body. :2cents:

    I believe the length differences is in the near the rear of the floor pan as you approach the rear seat. I think the difference is something like 6".

    I wouldn`t chop a vert to create a vert  :dunno:   if you look into chopping something up, start with a hard top...
