File Size Limits
« on: February 06, 2006 - 04:54:50 PM »
I have spent the last several days resizing many, many pics to save us space in our upload file.  So that no one ever has to do this again, I have eliminated the ability to upload .bmp files and have adjusted the maximum file size of uploadable pics to 300k.  This size should be big enough to handle any detailed pic you might have, but most pics should be under 100k.

I have added a website into our tools section off the main page that will allow you to upload, resize and save your files back to your pc's.  http://www.cuda-challenger.com/html/tools.php   It is very simple to use by following the instructions listed on the site.  When choosing the size of your pic, I would suggest using nothing larger than 700 pixels wide and be sure to keep the “constrain” box checked.  This will keep your picture’s aspect ratio intact when resizing.  After the pic is resized, it will show you the pic’s new file size…be sure it is under 300k.

Please let me know if you have any questions or issues.  Hopefully this will help us keep our files tidy and save space in the process.

Nope, was from a 7.2 mega pixel camera somewhere around 3000 x 2500 pixels.
I just re size all my photos to 750x750 (the width usually changes to around 500) and that was it.

Oh, thanks.

Don't know if this will help, but I use infranview, when the save option comes up I save at 80% of the file size, picture quality is still good & the file size is cut down a bit(will work on even smaller pics) just reduce the largest # by 1 if the pic is under 700 . Rich.

That's weird...it works in your quote, but not in the real thread. I'm so confused...

Edit...  I think it's working now.  Very strange!  Thanks for the heads-up!

While you "here" Rev.....the link on the menu bar at the top of each page that says "Take a look at our Members Map" isn't working...it takes them to the index instead. Just to let you know.
