Family Support
« on: February 07, 2006 - 02:34:25 PM »
I want everyone to know that 4C, as a moderator of cc.com, was contacted by BIG BOB, The_Cuda_Guy's father with the plan to get him a cuda for when he returns from serving his country.  I knew that the family was having problems and that BIG BOB was ill and not able to raise all the money to surprise his son when he returned.  Well now that BIG BOB has died, I guess the only way this dream will become reality . . is if cc.com can secure a cuda for The_Cuda_guy and present it to him at Carlisle 2007.  To everyone who has helped our cause . . . THANK YOU!  For those of you that have not, please donate what you can, when you can.

4C that is so sad news, when did he pass away? And do you know if they will let Cuda Guy come home for the funeral? Does his family (wife) know of this plan we are working on? Sorry for all the questions but this has really caught me off guard and it's kind of like a blow to the gut. I know Big Bob was not in the best of health, but had no idea of what or how serious things had been. This is terrible.

That is very sad news indeed, until I read this post I didn't realise it was his Dad.
Poor guy, hope he's OK....... :'(

We need a "bump" message or something to get this total rising, quickly.
Could we do a run of something similar to the calendars and a % of that is given to he total?

Maybe stickers, T-Shirts, caps, key rings..etc  :dunno:

Dave, that's aweful news about his father.  I did not know he had passed away.  I'd have to agree with NZ's idea of doing a run of some sort to try and bring the total up.  I'd like to help out more financially, but I'm running at the bottom of the barrel at this moment. :walkaway:

OK...a little more information.  I got a message from CudaGuy's dad (moparwannabe).  It was Don's stepfather that passed away yesterday.  Don will be home this Friday for the funeral.  We still have the families support as Don's dad (also named Don Moore) will help us carry this out.

:roflsmiley:  Remedy: A cup of unsweetened tea, as hot as you can stand to drink it, add a double shot of peach brandy and a piece of hard horehound candy. When the candy is disolved, reheat tea and sip, careful not to burn your tonuge. Or: two quick double shots of Jim Bean, my personal preferance,  :roflsmiley: Russ this will help the sore throat and give a very peaceful nights rest, honest !  :woo:

Maybe this has been suggested already, what about putting an auction thread where members could actually auction parts to the highest bidder, it wouldn't need to be secret but the money made by those that that want to contribute could go to the fund. I have a few things I could auction right now. I'd rather do it on site than through eBay, all the funds could go directly to the total instead of paying a percent to eGouge. Also, the members would have first crack at some great parts without having to go outside first. I realize there is a classifieds section but an auction might generate a little more to the total. Maybe there could be a secret word or code for those who want to post something that is in fact going to the fund, that way, other members would know so they can purchase knowing they are helping out. Just a thought.  :dunno:
