Its a very rare, expensive, coded option.....

If my memory serves me right, the code is GV1X for the gator top. And yes it's on the fender tag. Well at least on 70 Charger's  :droolingbounce:

Fantastic find!!!!! I love the look of it!!!
Like Topcat said maybe let one of the big restoration parts companys LOOK at it so more Mopar guys and Gals can get the correct looking pattern for there car.
Of course I'd make sure you covered your top first. But then again I'd be very nervous about letting that stuff leave my hands.

Thank you so much for all your kind words!!  We are soooo thrilled to have found it.  To answer some questions...

HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am sooooooooooo excited for you guys!  Hey, you both deserve it!  Do you think it will be on the Chally in time for Carlisle?

Yes!!! It should be on by Carlisle!  I do feel a little bad we're taking off a perfectly fine top, but OH WELL!!!! WE GOT GATOR GRAIN!!!!

Is there a date code ink stamped on the back side?

No.  There is nothing stamped on the back at all.  There was nothing on the back or our original either.

A recommendation...There may be a company that would want to borrow it
to begin reproduction of the pattern so that it will finally be correct.  :money:

That's pretty funny you should mention that.  We have our original gator grain top on loan to a company so they could begin reproducing it.  They have had the top for over 18 months and just last week, we found out they can now reproduce it!! That was good news...but better news is that we found some real stuff.  It's been feast or famine with this stuff...mostly famine!
The company is sending us 5 yards of the material and we should have it sometime next week. I'll post pics here when we get it.

Glad you found the top, hope that roll doesnt empty your pockets :money: Are you going to change the top or just keep the gator grain in case?

We're definately changing the top!  Hopefully to be done by Carlisle!

that's material is cool !!!
is it black or brown? Is that a # coded option or can anyone add it?

It's a very dark brown...almost black.  I have heard that it came in a couple of colors for other cars.  We're not sure if we want to keep it like it is or dye it black.  The code on the fender tag is V1G.  This stuff has been near impossible to find.

Thank you PG!!  And if I ever really want something, I'll ask you to "wish" it for me like you did at Christmas!! Yes, we bought everything he had, which was 8 yards and we got a pretty good deal on it to!

If my memory serves me right, the code is GV1X for the gator top. And yes it's on the fender tag. Well at least on 70 Charger's  :droolingbounce:

The code is definately V1G...no doubt about it.

Thanks again everyone!!

Just so you now...

The top you have appears to have the correct colors. They took black vinyl and sprayed it with a brown dye to give it a more natural "gator like" appearance. Over time the dye fades when exposed to the elements, old tops appear to be all black.

I think I have a couple good photos.......
