I have a 70 chall with a 383 and 727. I want to swap in the keisler 5-spd. Do i have to change the hump? Has anyone done this?

no you don`t have to change the hump on the B & E body , only the A body needs to be cut  & no I haven`t done this just read about it  ;)

i have owned a 4spd and a automatic chall and the humps are different(4spd is more boxish, and flatter on top to accomodate the shift boot) ..i am not so sure if you can get the kaiser to fit without clearance problems....

i did this with my 70 cuda. It was a 360 crate motor and 727. I had to cut the floor and weld in a hump that came from keisler... not too big of a deal though. I would assume you would have to do the same-- only reason that you might not have to is that you are bolting to a big block instead of a small block.

jterp,

How do you like your Keisler?  Any issues or dislikes with it?

I like it a lot. It is a great way to get highway and drag race performance out of a car-- it's not as easy as they say to install though. It shifts nice... but different than an old 4 speed. The throws are shorter which is nice, but the synchronizers are very heavy duty, which is good for abuse but makes it harder to power shift (2->3 shift in a 4 speed becomes 2->N->3 in a keisler) this sounds strange, i know, but its hard to describe in words... more of a feel...
