    hey yall iv got a quick quetion! iv got a dash pad but its just the metal part all the foam and vinyl has be removed...do you think a dash cap (the 62 dollar kind that glues over the existing pad) would look ok or should i just buy a whole new pad( the 700-800 dollar kind lol)? if anyone out there has one please post some pics of it so i can see what it looks like thanks..Kevin!  :cheers:

    Doesn't the $62 dollar kind need at least some foam or something to sit on?   ???  Not just the steel?  Is'nt it just a this plastic shell for that price?

      Yes, it's a plastic shell that should be glued to the original padding. I don't think it would look so great just glued to the steel frame. It probably would be a little too big since the padding isn't there.

    I would imagine that you could get it to work but would have to use something to fill the areas that no longer have the dash padding.  It would be sorta "mickey mouse" but it's probably do-able with some creativity if cost is an issue. 

    May be use wood/styrofoam?  This is something I might try if I was I only had the metal frame and want to watch the budget.

    It all depends what you want from your car.  If it's a driver this MIGHT be okay.  Not sure how it'll look as I don't have the parts in front of me.

    6pak . . I don't think the shell will work without the old pad!  Its very thin and definitely needs the pad for support.  Mopar Muscle did an article on the cover and it looked pretty good from what I could see from the pictures and I assume for the price not a bad deal if your pad is butt ugly!   :puke:       :cheers:

    oh ok! thanks is there anyway to get my frame recovered or would it be cheaper to just buy a dash from YO?? i think the 72 dashes are $700!

    the frame is not covered , the pad is on piece with the foam & vinyl heat shrunk over the foam
     buying a pad may be the easiest way to fix it

    You might be able to find some foam rubber and put the cap over it, that would probably be the cheapest way.  I just bought a dash cap, but haven't installed it yet, but they look fine for a driver, you can't tell the difference unless you look closely.
    Just Dashes will also recover your dash, but I don't know what they charge, I think it would be cheaper than Year One.  I think their web site is Just dashes.com.

    Where are you finding dash caps for $62? The caps look pretty good to me for the money, but dash pads are one thing that some folks have to have as close to perfect as possible and are willing to pay $$$.

    The dash cap will not work on a dash frame with no pad. There is nothing there to silicone it to. Also would probably have a very hollow sound too.  :walkaway: 

    I have plenty of pics of the dash cap installation. With the high price and sometimes questionable quality of repro dash pads, the dash cap is a great solution for me.

    Kevin, what kind of dash pad and to what? Your cuda? Find a crappy core with the padding still intack for about 50.00 and add your cap. Cost wise it'll look great for the $$$$ and for a driver. Call me or PM wih your PH #. I enjoy shooting the bull. Take care. :cheers:

    how much 4c?? from what i understand from everyone the best thing do do is what fishn4cuda said! so if you have an old one il buy it and buy and cap!

    mike year one and paddock both have dash covers/ caps its just hard plastic  that glues over the exsting pad there actually cheaper than 60 bucks there like 50 i was just adding in shipping!  please post the pics you have thanks!

    cc does the orinial pads have a metal frame?? if not im kinda confussed on what iv got!?  ??? iv got what looks like a dash pad with no padding on it! Its even go the vin tag holes drilled in it!?
