I'm Back (yeh I know big deal) but I've got a question
« on: February 10, 2006 - 12:34:39 AM »
Hi All

Been off for a while due to no internet access at work & can't get the kids off at home. Quick update for those interested, have had car back from paint shop where some rust repairs were done (deck filler panel & roof)  & the top 1/2 of the car was painted body colour after vinyl top was removed. Had to fit the new wheels 'cause they looked so good ( took 12 weeks to get here from US after order) 17-7 & 225/50r17 tyres on front 17-9.5 & 275/40r17 rear. Will lower suspension 2" all round in the next few weeks, just now starting to bolt bits back on, still waiting for some things from the States.
Question I have is re rear molding, all photos & info (including catalogues from Paddock etc) mention trunk & rear 1/4 panel extn moldings as 3 thin alloy pieces. My car has a large molding that covers the whole of the rear valance panel above the lights & extends out to the rear 1/4s & includes the extn moldings all in 1 piece it's painted black except for the extn molding parts which are polished like the trunk molding. I will include a coupl of photos of this piece in the next post as I forgot to reduce them before I started typing, any info would be appreciated.
I've posted a couple of pics of the Challenger for those interested.

Cheers SoS

Looks like you have an SE trim panel on there.  The rear quarter trim is attached to this panel.  You only need the trunk trim.  Is it in good shape?

The Challenger looks great, SoS!!!!!  I love those rims...They fit the wheel wells nicely and you can use some of the newer, sticky tires in 17"s.

Ok thanks Rev, now I thought SEs all had the smaller rear window true or false or has my car just picked up a random trim piece & by the way do all SEs have that molding 'cause as I said I can't see it in any of the stuff I have?

Gee I wish I had read the thread re SE description before I posted my questions, it would have saved some typing  looks like my car had a couple of option boxes ticked 'cause it also came with belt moldings or at least one side did I'm waiting for the RHS set to arrive from the US shortly.

SOS, what is your vin number?  Sounds like a very interesting car.  Yes, all SE's had the small rear window.  Your car, if it's not an SE, probably has the SE trim option.

SoS could your Challenger have been a Western Sport Special? I'm thinking they came with that tail panel trim as part of the WSS package. Also if yours is a non-rallye dash with woodgrain, that's another item that i believe is unique to the WSS  ::)
