Tremec question
« on: February 10, 2006 - 02:16:51 PM »
Getting ready to install the speedo cable in my Tremec TKO600. Question is when i pull out the plug that currently plugs the speedo hole up, am I going to get a river of tranny fluid?  Want to be prepared if that's going to happen.

If you mean the housing that holds the speedo gear, then the answer is YES.  :22yikes:  Probably about a quart.

Housing??  looks to me like the speedo cable just slides in, and has a clamp to hold it in. right now, there is what appears to be a plug in the hole. I'll take a pic sometime this weekend and post it.

As far as the installation, i bought this car with the tremec in it...just finishing up the resto and tying up all the loose ends.

My bad. I thought you were talking about removing the cable from a stock Mopar tranny.

Mike,

I've been there, done that on the 833's...LOL

Haplo, i can tell you it makes for a nice clean installation, i dont see anything that was hacked up to fit it in. The trans crossmember looks to be a nice piece.

is it above the filler plug ?  ( I forget and Im not going to crawl under mine tonite)

If its above it should be a safe bet that a gushing load wont come out, but have a towel or two handy just in case ?

 :nzflag: :canada:

Park it pointing the nose down hill on a slight hollow (next to an old willow ...just kidding) and climb under. Oil should be far enough forward in the transmission to not pose a problem. Be careful and make sure you block the wheels to avoid getting squished.

I had to change my speedo gear today, speedo reading to fast. Had drivers side wheels on 6" blocks, ZERO oil came out while I switched gears. :woohoo:
