Right in my back yard. (Portland)

I have talked to the guy selling it years ago, however it doesn't look like the photos were taken at his place.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

It looks like the photos were taken at Wildcat.

I saved the photos and started a file on it. At least it has a salvage title with "TOTALED" plainly spelled out, so it has been recorded as such.

Hey Barry you found me again.
Sadly in some states you are able to eliminate the salvage description on the title.
I think it's great you are keeping track of these things.
I would hate to spend big bucks on a shaker Challenger and then have someone show me pictures of what the car really went through, but that's the trend these days.
Someday all your information is going to be an invaluable tool for any potential high dollar E-body buyer. Keep up the good work

Hey Killer,
I was not stalking you or anything, honest! I just bounce around the boards in the evenings.

Thanks again for the tip! With the title shown in the auction there is enough information for me to list it as totaled on the HH site, there are a few there already, they are lumped in with the "found" items for easy viewing.

As always, ask before you buy - buyer beware.

T/Ake care,
Barry

what do you think about cars that have been rebodied but that information is put out there for the buyer? In other words, its not hidden that is a "rebodied" car.  I think as long as its disclosed, its ok.

As far as I know, rebodies are illegal in all 50 states. Rebody is another term for altering vin #'s. If you state that's it's a rebody, you're just admitting to breaking the law and I think that buying a rebody could just cause a lot of trouble for someone down the road. A friend of mine here bought a car that was hit hard in the front. He bought another that was hit hard in the rear and clipped the two together. He had a clear title on the rear clip so he used those numbers for his car. He later sold the car and ended up getting two years in prison for that decision. He doesn't mess around with rebodies now.

what was the actual charge he went to prison on? did he get busted because he tried to pass a car off as a clear title? I think the law has to do with deception. If you try to scam someone into thinking the car is something that it is not. There are "rebodied" cars that sell on Barret Jackson.

I do see your point though. Lets say you "rebody" a car and sell it. Full discloser about what it is and what you have done. That does not mean the next guy will do the same. UNLESS you dont sell it with a clear title. Sell it as a salvage title. doesnt that make it leagal?

Moving VIN numbers from on car to another is illegal.

People try to justify it in many ways, but it is still illegal.

Wow, that's a sad sight. :crying:  It's obvious what the intentions are for selling this car, but you'd think eBay would regulate sales such as these for legal matters. :dunno: :feedback:  Nobody in their right mind can possibly think this is going to be 'restored' as by the time you'd have the body straightened out again, there wouldn't be a single original panel on it.  At least the seller is getting a pretty penny for the tags and getting rid of one more scraped body for the yard.

How much of the car can be repaired before it isnt that car again? The Vin number is on the dash. If you replace the dash and move the vin back to the new dash is that illegal..??  no it isnt , its restoration.  Im not trying to argue the point just playing devil's advocate. Its an interesting topic that me and my friends talk about a lot. At what point does it become rebodied?
