E body convertible rear seat
« on: February 14, 2006 - 04:04:04 PM »
I need a 70-71 E body convertible rear seat. I need both or will start with the bottom or the back and work from there.

Thanks

John

Hey John, I think the bottoms are the same as a hardtop.  It's the backs that are hard to get.  Maybe our member from Aloha Automotive can give you hand.  He seems that to have some of the hard to find stuff.

Actually both back and seat are unique.   :sadwavey:

I thought I had installed the bottom back from my 74 Challenger and it worked.  I may be mistaken but I believe you can make the bottom work?

Just picked up a 1970 Challenger convertible to get back in the Mopar fold. This one looks to have a hardtop seat I guess. The seat bottom will not tuck back into the rear seat and snap into place. it will not reach the rear set of floor hooks, only teh front. The bottom will not snap into the hooks because the seat fram hits the seatbelt mounts. It looks like there are two seat belt mounting points. I can either cut off the one not being used to clear the seat frame, or try to modify the seat frame to clear the belt mounts. Trying to find/pay for a correct seat is probably not worth the expense for me. This will be a pro-touring/hotrodded/daily driver/restified type of car when done. A nice 5 footer daily driver now to enjoy over the summer.

I had the same problem with my convertible.  So I went over to a friends house to have him look at a power window problem I was having and he explained how to fix the back seat problem during the wire testing we did.   The easiest way to get the back seat to connect to the back row hooks is to put the bottom seat in first.  Then slide the back seat down.  Then push the bottom seat down when you put the back seat screws in to keep the back from moving.  Before we removed the back all we could connect to was the first row and it looked CR#PPY.  Once we did it the way he suggested my seats looked great.  See if that works for you?
