Saggy rear cured: New springs installed
« on: February 15, 2006 - 09:07:13 PM »
Got the new espo springs put in. Man what a difference it made to the stance of the car. Raised the back end up 3 1/2 inches. Also put on new Edelbrock IAS shocks. Have'nt had a chance to drive it yet to see what  the new ride is going to feel like. In the next few months I need to get new tires--have really worn out 25 yr old FR60-15  T/A s on now--to fill up the wheel wells a little more, adjust the front end some and then I should be setting  pretty.

Your car went up like mine in the back. Looks good and should improve your ride greatly as you will have some spring movement as I know do on my 71 Challenger RT.

which espo springs are they, 1 or 2 inch over?. i bought new springs  that were made in pennsylvania, brand? back in late 80s and sagged exactly like original 440 6 leafs. air shocks died, time for new springs. i just want car leval or no more than 1 inch up.havent driven it since  i moved to fl. too embarresed  too bring it out dragging its ass inch and a half down.chains on car trailer wore holes in monroe air shocks that held air perfect since 1977.this is my first post. bought 440 rt se 30 yers ago. lots of options, alligator, ac, pwcolum shift, 8 track, rim blow rear defrost, etc

Greetings JS29U: I went with the 1" over stock height/ stock 5 leafs per side. My car rode so low that I could not even get my head underneath the car to look things over. It also was hard on my header tubes/mufflers, which would hit on a good bump. If they sag a little it should sit just right.

Where did you order your springs from.  I need new rear springs BADLY and had 2 options.
I can have my curretn ones re-arched and 1 leaf added in for no more than $250 total.  I have seen some HD leaf srpigns advertised around for $284, but that doesn't include shipping.  Just trying to figure out my best bet.
Looks good BTW.

I am very happy with these espo springs and they were not that expensive. Both leaf springs were $170.00  shipping was 75.00(got here in 8 days)--4 U bolts 16.00---I went with the poly busings (8) for 24.00.  Total was $315.00  Not bad for the difference it made.

Forgot one total-- I went 1" over stock height which cost an additional 30.00. Now on to the front end.

Big improvement and you don't have to ask ' does my rear look saggy?'
