Whats it worth? 70 Challenger, added pics
« on: February 17, 2006 - 03:17:35 PM »
There is a '70 Challenger with a 400 auto, rally dash, Magnum wheels.  Its about 2-3 hrs drive from me.  Its partly disasembled, one guy was gonna restore it but lost his job, another was gonna restore it but bought a '68 Barracuda instead.  Now he wants $5000 for it.  Does it sound like its worth  the money?  I know    :useless:
I have asked him to email me some pics, if he does I will post them later, if not, I guess I will drive down there Sunday & check it out.  thanks.

I guess it will depend on what shape the body is in and how much rust you will have to battle . . . if not much, then sounds good to me.

The biggie here is what rust are we dealing with? If it's disassembled, that's probably why. Look at the floor boards, trunk, and cowl panel. That should tell you, along with the frame rails. The fenders are a one year only thing, so it would be nice if they were workable.  That's just what I would be looking for now. For 5K, a 70 Challenger should be worth it and then some.

I think if it is a JS challenger which is a RT it is well worth it and just what I'm looking for in a next project. I would make him a lower offer and see if he takes it.

rust repair means $$$$ unless you can do it...usually opens up a can of worms....
