Stock or Not to be stock?
« on: February 17, 2006 - 11:34:46 PM »
We all love them Mopars but everyone loves them just a little bit different in their own minds.

What way would you fix up your Mopar if you didn't have to worry about the all mighty dollar?

I love the stock look but would like some performance mods to make them more up to date with the new performace parts out now.

I voted for the last option and modify everything!!  This is no longer the 70's!!  :nono:   Time to come into the 2000's!

let's face it, it depends on how your car looked and was optioned when new.
Some didn't need customizing for looks/performance...others definitly did

I agree, bring on the 2000's with better suspension, performance and all. However tuck all that goodness into a clean looking body and now we are talk'n. I would still like my e-body to look like an ebody and not like a kit car like some cars today!  :working:

I had to vote for how I'm building up my '73.....Beastly under the hood with a drivetrain to back things up, interior modifications that'll make it a little more enjoyable to drive, and lastly keep the exterior looking mostly stock, but using some parts from the earlier model years to clean it up a bit.  Oh, and you can't forget some Torque Thrust II's in 17"s with some sticky tires.

For me since my car isn't rare, I'm building it just like I did in highschool. It's got to have some Fat meat under it and sit with an attitude. It's got to have some rumble out the back, and the part I'm hoping to improve this year, it's got to have some respectable power.

It really depends how your car was optioned from the factory.

If it was already something kickass like a 440+6, keep it stock.
But if it was a pale-turd brown 383, why not change it?

If it's a significant (A.K.A. rare model) that's still intact, then go stock.  If it has no historical significance (like mine) upgrade everything you want to modern standards.  Just don't change the body.  Some things you just can't improve upon!!!

I also prefer the stock look. Like keeping a little bit of history alive, in my opinion.

I say change whatever you feel. I figure there's enough correct restoration cars out there to last forever. Take a non numbers car and have fun with it. When I get mine, I plan on doing some custom work, especially on the interior. I feel the exterior of an Ebody holds up fairly well (though shaving markers and handles could help smoothe them out), but I always hated the interior look of the cars. Seats with heavy bolsters, custom console, navigation. It would be awesome.

Well I voted to keep it stock looking with drive train mods, since my car had some orginality to it, thats how its going back together.
now if it was just a rolling shell, the sky is the limit FAST AND FUN :ylsuper:

I really enjoy personalizing my vehicles, so I have a dilemma with the kuda. It's an original paint car, with all original drivetrain and sheet metal. So to staisfy the urge, I make some subtle changes to the engine, exterior and interior which can all be easily reversed.
