ignition switch removal
« on: February 19, 2006 - 08:07:47 PM »
I am rebuilding the steering column on my challenger. How do you remove the ignition switch? I have popped off the chrome bezel. How is the switch (the part the key goes in, not the part with the wiring harness) held in the housing? Does it press out to the inside or to the outside of the collar? Is there anything else holding it into the collar? Thanks.

Chryco can probably explain it better than me but there in a small button you have to hold in about the size of the head of a finish nail on the side of the lock assembly to remove it from the column.  Hold it in and pull the lock cylinder out.  Hope this helps!

there are 2 Phillips screws that hold down the plate around the lock tab onder the lock plate that rotates with the column , remove the 2 phillips screws & move the plate inward toward the steering colun shaft , under this plate is a small pin that needs to be depressed to remove the lock
