I have read past post but want to get the latest.
Have a 1970 Challenger orig 383 rt/se auto that now has a stock 400 from 1971.......I was looking at an Edlebrock 800 cfm and E-Bock performer intake.....what does everyone think?

I think a 750cfm Eddy or Holley would be a better carb choice. As far as an intake, if hood clearance permits go with an Eddy Prformer RPM or an old DP4B which is better than the Mopar M-1 dual plane or regular performer

I second the call for the Eddy RPM.  It is a much better intake than the perfromer which is basically an alluminum version of the stock intake.  the only downfall is that it is a taller intake which may require a drop base air cleaner.

For carbs I prefer the Demons personally.  I actually like to stick on the smaller size.  I am running  a 650 DP Mighty Demon on my 383 and I like the snappy response the carb gives.  To each their own though...

I also agree that the performer is not  a performer , A Holley Street Dom would be the best choice Rpm next
