Lemon Twist Turning Red
« on: February 23, 2006 - 01:44:59 PM »
Well my project has changed directions.  What was suppose to be a quick engine swap and exterior paint finished has began all over.

Yesterday I came home to find the Cuda (excuse me Barracuda) on the lift where dad had completely dismantled the front end because he was not satisfied with his previous restoration work.  So now we are basically starting over so I  convienced him to go Red since this particular yellow was not the original color any way.

Here is the pic that we were suppose to start from.

I will post some pics of the stripped down version this weekend.  Hopefully he has not started with the red so I can get some before and afters underneath.

I think he is on a mission for father and son to be able to invade Daytona Beach this turkey rod run with his 61 Studebaker Hawk and my 70 Gran Coupe.

Hawk (My dad’s first ever completed project)

Pictures I promised:

Passenger quarter, way back in the day before replacement quarters dad was fabbing to overlay fiberglass to restore the lower.  Now we will buy the 72-74 lower and afix it below the side marker as I am told they are the same except for the side marker opening.

Driver quarter, these two quarters were the worst of the rust.

Various other shots.  Tomorrow the bottom should be red if I have time I will take a few pics.

Any of you guys have this same problem at this stage deciding the color?

Red was on the self beside the paint gun ready to go this morning.  We were hoping to start last night but from the pictures it did not dry from the washing in time.  Well this morning after a long long long long half awake pondering sleep I changed my mind.  This morning we are headed back to town to exchange the red for Black.  Another bulldog color and also a match for everything else I drive.  I drive exclusively black rides so why make this any different.

The bottom will be black this evening and I hop to take a few snaps.
