22 inch radiator question
« on: February 24, 2006 - 07:23:50 PM »
I need a new radiator and shroud  for a 1970 Challenger rt/se with a 400 in it now( mine does not have one) . I see shroud brackets being sold on e-bay....does a repro or orig radiator have these brakets built in or is there a separate bracket?

in other words I thought a shroud would just bolt onto a radiator or does the e-body have special brackets that go on the side of the radiator to mount the shroud to?

confused in Ga!

On an orig type radiator the shroud attaches to the radiator frame with 4 screws. Repo type radiators from a radiator shop would attach the same way. Aftermarket alum. radiators ( BeCool, Griffin, etc.) have brackets that fit over the tanks and the shroud attaches to the brackets.

:iagree: And don't skip the shroud, especially with the big block.

I do not have any brackets like that on a 26in radiator, but I have shrouds for both the 22in. and 26in. radiators and they both attach the same way as I said earlier. I have a BeCool in my conv. and it has to have the tank brackets that I mentioned. Maybe someone else recognizes the brackets in your link and can explain.

Could these be radiator brackets for a '60's Mopar?
