Yeah I know......BIG and HEAVY

I'll go measure my hood right now, as for the weight I am not really sure because I never carried it by myself.

In Shipping...   theres 2 kinds of "weight"

Theres "Actual Weight" and "Dimensional Weight",  distance is also a factor.

Imagine if you shipped a solid chunk a lead in a 6"x10"x6" box  vs.  loosely packed chicken feathers in a 4ftx4ftx5ft box....

The first box is very heavy, but the second box consumes a lot of shipping space.  Neither weight capactiry nor physical space is infinite when shipping on ships/planes/tranes/delivery trucks.

The hood in this case Im pretty sure will ship by Dim weight and probably arrive on a half pallet.   I think mine was around 85$ to ship by truck ?  Check out some of the ebay auctions on R/T hoods.  and yes there is a lot of extra packing.

Most Common carriers will charge you a minimum charge for a shipment of that size and the charge will cover up to 500 lbs. I drive for R+L Carriers and i know that's how most charge . I run line haul so i don't know the shipping charges hope this helps you out.

I've freighted hoods and trunk lids in the past and on an average $83-$100. You'll get better rates shipping from a business to a business.

Believe it or not, you can use Greyhound. They actually ship. They may be less expensive, but you have to get the package to the bus terminal. I know one person that has used them. I will check to see if it was his hood he shipped.

Greyhound is a good choice but I think I will be  a little over on the size.Size: Packages will be accepted for transportation, provided the dimensions of the package are within 30 inches X 47 inches X 82 inches.

With packing I am close to the limit and I want to be sure the hood is protected so I was going with it being crated which will add alot to the size. I also did not want to have the hood get to Greyhound and be turned down so I went with a trucking firm. Cost from business to terminal will be arond $150.00.

Thanks for he help

I've used Yellow Freight and recently DHL. Had a whole front clip (from trans crossmember forward) for a 64 Polara 500 delivered to my door for $100.
