What's your favorite color combo on a 71 Challenger?

I think the Lite Gunmetal is a great looking color with black vinyl top and strips. This is my ride and draws tons of attention where ever I take it.

I'm trying to decide on a color for mine too.  My favorites are the gunmetal grey, sublime with black stripes, or silver with black stripes.

Well, Sub Lime is not a factory 71 color so it's out, and not that it's not a nice color (nice car BTW!) but I really never cared much for Gunmetal Gray so that's out too.

That white convertible I posted is stunning, in fact I almost like it better than anything else, Citron Yella and Hemi orange are right up there though, especially after seeing how nice Alaska's car looks!

These are the colors offered....I guess! I go with the dark bronze Metallic....(K6) with a white vinyl top and white stripes....I had a 71 that from my recollection was that color combo....looked cool!

My first choice would be GY3 or Plumcrazy, but they are everywhere now. I think the white would be equally in your face, especially if you could put that orange houndstooth interior into it!!

I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the colours mentioned, especially breaking them up with the black. I would add a black vinyl roof for sure.

I've seen Alans work before, he does awesome restorations, that one looks to be no exception.

Yea, I like white, it may not be as "main stream" popular as some of the brighter more colorful choices but it has a certain richness that is appealing when it is all dressed out with black trim. One thing that I think really completes the unique look of a 71 Challenger is the F&R rubber bumpers with the black/body color two tone R/T paint detailing, it just looks sharp to me regardless of the color.

Another vote for hemi-orange here - just looks great and is the classic Mopar colour.  Green Go could also look good.

Is white considered an earth-tone color ?


white cars and trucks all look like government vehicles or rental cars to me.   

That and chrome just doenst come off anywhere near as well on white, but if your going with Rallye wheels and rubber bumpers that takes alot of chrome out of the picture.

B7 blue is too dark and reminds me of a quicky MAACO paintjob type restoration.



B5 blue or Orange will get my vote

Please recall my first post guys, this car WILL have a black interior, black vinyl top, and black stripes. It will also have rubber bumpers, side scoops, and all the other factory spoiler bolt ons. It will also have the R/T grill and tail panel black out paint scheme. The only thing up for debate is the color of the paint.

As I said initially, I want the car to have a unigue "Challenger" identity, I had a Hemi Orange Challenger once and although I loved the color (still do) I had countless numbers of moroos comment on it in traffic "Nice Charger" because it was Hemi Orange "Just like the Dukes of Hazard car". Man it gets old hearing that! I know I know, just ignore the idiots, but it would be interesting to see if they made the same identity mistake if it were white or yellow wouldn't it? You guys owning orange ones must know what I'm talking about? Have any of you with non orange cars had this problem?

We get it ALL the time!!  Every time we are out, we get the "nice Charger" comment.  Even at car shows, they'll call us up to give us our trophy and say for the 1970 Dodge Charger.....  You think car people would at least get it right.  I'm afraid you're going to hear it no matter what color you choose.
