Yet Another What's It Worth! RUSTY '70 Challenger 340
« on: February 28, 2006 - 08:15:19 PM »
Found a '70 Challenger 340.  No fender tag, but checks out as a 340, 4 bbl Challenger, I think.  VIN begins with BH23G2B.  She's got major cancer - will need quarters, full floorpan, fenders, a trunk, at least one rear frame rail, etc.  Roof has a weird looking splice in it, too, so might need to replace that, too.  Owner thinks it has a 318 in it, but he's not sure.  Has an auto (727?) and an 8 3/4.  Has R/T tags and hood (yep, it's rusty), but not an R/T.

Interior is in lousy shape, but it's all there.

Car does not have a fender tag.

Owner wants $1500.

Here's what I'm wondering -

Are folks saving cars that are this far gone?  If so, what's a fair price?  Is it worth my while to part it out?

Thanks!!!

Scott

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

HONESTLY I say buy it.  The rear full 1/4's are avail. I spoke with goodmark and they will test fit the fronts in a couple of months if they work they will be out within 6.  They make the hoods if needed.

To me if most of the trim ect is there I say it is worth it.  Heck it will be worth that much in parts or more.

If it's VIN begins with BH23G2B you're looking at a 72 Barracuda...looking forward to the pics

You know I looked right by that. You would be correct.  Still maybe a good parts car if nothing else.  I need a few parts.  LOL

Sorry, that VIN was from another car.  The VIN on  this one is JH23H0B1XXXXX.  Assuming this translates to a regular Challenger 340, right?

Don't have any pics of the Challenger, sorry.

Anyway, here's the deal - if I buy the car, I'll probably just resell it.  If I don't pick it up, it will probably sit there until it rusts completely away.  Also would like to know what is valuable on a car like this if I part it out - dash?  Seats?  Tranny?  Rearend?  340 (it's a small block, but not sure which one)?

Anyway, I'm trying to save some $$$ for a SWEET Mopar that I'm trying to buy.  Don't care to tip anyone off as to what it is, but trust me - y'all will be quite proud of me if I get it...

Thanks!

Grille?  Taillights, Headlight bezels, roof? (I could use one), Motor, tranny depends on what they are. I have seen some 340's going for 1000+ here.  Rear depends again on what it is.  A/C or heater core box, Cowl area, I mean someone can chop that thing up and make some dough.

Ok, I guess I'll pick it up.  Maybe someone will want it complete, but if not, I'll crank up the Sawzall...  Will let y'all know when I get it.

Thanks,

Bulletpruf, I'll be waiting to see some pics of it.  It sounds pretty rough, but if it has a 340 that'll already be more than half the purchase price. (they usually go for $850-1,000.00 for a decent assembly)

I'll post pics once I have it.  Don't know if it's a 340 or not.  Owner thought the car had a 318, but he's not real sharp on these things...  Hoping that it's got the original 340.
thx,
Scott
