I move from LA to N Ca, to the country ...good thing is I got back into my cars...bad thing is, there isn't Sh_t happening up here other than retirees...I'm Keeping my ranch up here and may come back in 20 years.  I went to Austin for the 1st time 3 weeks ago, it's a happening town.  Got word tonight my offer on my new home was excepted.  45 days to close.

Quite honestly, I'm extrememly excited!!!

Hope I find some mopar fans...I know that : texastoybox.com ( mopar enthusiast/sales/resto shop) is just outside of Austin.

If I can't locate a club, I'll start one! :clapping:

Look out Austin, here comes CUDAAAH!

let me know when you get into town...I am in ATX and my brother and I both have E bodies. I have a '70 Challenger that I am in the middle of redoing and he has a 70 Plum Crazy Cuda - we just bought a 66 Coronet 500 as a joint project, that should be fun. He belongs to a mopar club in town and I hang out with a hot rodders club but all car nuts are welcome.

I need to take some better pics but here is my baby....

I lived there for 14 months, there are Mopar clubs in the city.
The housing is bad down there, they're building new all the time, but the market value has gone down. It depends when you buy, you can get a lot of house for little money.

I had the worst time with my allergies, one of the worst places for that. The traffic was crazy. The "hook'em horns" thing will drive you batty.  :pullinghair:

Did not have fun there, to weird.  :bricks1:  :eek4:

Of course I'm a ex-Socal guy, who is completely jaded. Kansas Rocks  :ylsuper:

Cudahob,

Sorry to hear about your allergies...I have to agree about the ability to get more for you $ in austin w/ housing..I'm in the industry, and was shocked  :eek2:to see what was available at the going prices.   Coming from LA were a 2600 sq/ft track home sells for a Million, austin looks very inviting.   Not only cars, but we also like boating/wakeboarding, and I love live music.  I here it's the capital of live music.

I'm looking foreward to the move, and it appears to be my kinda place :ylsuper:

I live in a suburb of Austin actually and we have an incredible car show out her on Saturdays....wearther permitting. Everything from Import Cars to Classic Muscle to Pro Street.... it is all there.  :clapping: And one of the best things is that is OK to take your kids... no idiots doing burnouts or drunks getting stupid, it is a lot of fun! you will enjoy it - not many Mopars around these parts.

brent,

Nice to here about the car show...Where exactly is it held.  I'm moving to the city park area...I do like the fact Austin isn't extremely large and can't imagine anyplace being too far.  I look foreward to coming out to the show, and meeting other car enthusiasts.

it is held in the parking lot of Home Depot near 1431 and Parmer Lane in Cedar Park...Cedar Park is located just north of Austin about 15 minutes.

Hope to see you there!

In September Good Guys is having a huge car show in Fort Worth.  Why don't you guys bring your Cuda's to the show?  We have been to the show a couple of times and they do not have enough Mopar's there so bring ours out.  We will probably have Blofish at the show.  In case you have the calendar Blofish is the one for April.  We would love to meet some of you guys at the show.  I think it is the last part of Sept or first part of October.  They usually have around 3000 cars of all kinds at the show.  It is a lot of fun.

Cudahob,
Yes, I know about the KC Good Guys show.  We took Blofish to it last year (05) and it won the Big Bad and Blown award.  There were some awesome cars at that show.  Since we went to that show last year we will probably go to Lonestar Good Guys show this year in Ft. Worth.

good luck in Austin Cudaaah. I grew up in Texas...GREAT people there! Very friendly.

I'm up in N. Ca. also so I know what your saying about the property value differences.

The one thing I hope you factored in is the HIGH :o property taxes.

Many counties over 3% and no prop 13...that's one reason the home prices stay so low.
