Update on my recovered Challenger
« on: March 01, 2006 - 09:56:47 PM »
Hey everybody
Let me tell y'all a little of how I got my car back and it's condition.
Tuesday I got a call from someone who saw my flyer up and had saw a car that matched mine. They said that they could not get close enough to see VIN No. but it had the white mopar spelled out on the back side window. They told me where it was and I had a couple of friend go over there. By the time my friends got there someone else had seen the car and had read about it on the internet,So that person blocked it in and called the police. My friends arrived and the car was about 10 blocks away from where it was stolen at a small auto repair place. Police are investigating.
The damage was: The ignition is gone and the the idiot still couldn't get the car so they removed my steering wheel and colum and put vice grips on to steer the car. No trunk lock, broke into locked glove box. The backseat was pulled up and out but was still in the car. Here is the worst, that idiot towed it by the torsion bar and broke it, also messed my headers all up. But it is still red with a white top! They did clean my trash out of the car and clean the white seats really good.
Here is how I got my parts back. I started screaming "where is my steering wheel, you took my steering wheel" in their parking lot(and remember it took me about 1 and a half hours to get there) the idiot produced my steering wheel, horn button, steering colum piece, hubcaps and air filter from inside shop.
I am really happy and very lucky to have gotten my beloved Challenger back.
I would like to thank everyone who kept an eye out for it. My friends couldn't believe the response I got. They thought it was a great thing all y'all did for me.
Once I can let you know more about the investigation I will plus the name of shop and address of where I found it.
All I've got to say is "Mopar people are the greatest"
Barbara

Awesome news. Yup, the law needs to sort things out first before you can say anything. Last thing we need to see is those guys aquitted.

Great News!  I'm still waiting for someone to call me and tell me that my '66 Corvette Convt (327, 4 sp, 48,000 original miles, red with black top and interior) has been recovered.  It was stolen from New Orleans in 1995.

That Great you got it back, Now is the time to take Pictures of it,take # of everything and Put them in a safe place  and when you go to Court tell the Judge that you want this Place shut down and the person that stole your pride and joy ,that you want his Hand cut off for stealing it and  the damages that he did to it, if the Judge can not do that, that OK Call a Hit man to do the Job for you, I would if it happen to me, But I'll do it myself

Congrats on the recovery. Perhaps you can work out a deal with the perps and judge so that they may be able to work off the price it is to repair it back to running condition. What they pay convicts to work around the prison, they should be out in 15 to 20 years.  :roflsmiley:

I just love happy endings!  Sounds like it might be time to do some sprucing up at their expense!  Let's see....new front suspension, new headers, new steering column and wheel...what else can we add to their bill...?  :grinyes:

Glad to hear you got your car back! Now how to make sure that the scum that did this never does this again :swear: Wait a minute, I shouldn't talk like that, the guy(s) who did it were probably just victims of society and couldn't help themselves and  it's not their fault at all, we should feel sorry for them. NOT! OK, I've vented a bit, feel better now...

:woohoo:  Glad you got it back!!!!

Now comes the fun part:  making that guy pay for what he did.  I wouldn't call it revenge but he better get that car back to the same, if not better shape.

Was the car appraised at one point in it's life?  Wonder if it'll help the process.  Get lots of estimates for the work to be done and stick the guy with the most expensive estimate.  Not so much as to rake him over the coals, but more so to cover any unexpected costs that may come up because once the settlement is done the deal may be over and you won't be able to get anymore $$$ from the guy if the case is closed.  Just my 2 cents.

Hmmm....might be time to get those Rallye wheels you've always wanted.....
