'70 Barracuda Convertible - Pricing Help Needed Please!

Just want to make sure I'm not paying WAY too much for a car; am familiar with musclecars, but have not been a Mopar guy, so really could use y'alls expertise on this.  It's a '70 Barracuda Convertible, 318, 2 bbl, 3 sp manual.  Has clean title and fender tag, and the tag matches the VIN.  Here's what I was able to decipher off the tag -

V3X Black Convertible Top
C55 Non-Reclining Bucket Seats Australia,   Bucket Seats (69-71)
P37 Power Convertible Top
R11 Music Master Am Radio
Y05 Built to US Specs Australia
E44 318ci 2bbl 8 cyl 230h.p. V8 (LA) (69-71)
D13 3 speed Manual transmission floor shift

Car is mostly complete (missing grille, I think), has engine, trans, rearend, etc, but has not run in a while.  Top is gone but convertible frame is there.  Rear quarters are eaten up by rust at the bottom.  Frame and floors look good.

Would probably do a hemi clone, but am real curious about resale value because I might end up selling it to someone who would do a top-notch resto/clone.

Anyway, I'll take a better look at it tomorrow.  Owner knows what the car is, but think I can still get a decent deal on it.  I know that I'm asking tough question for y'all to give me an idea on price without seeing the car, but appreciate any and all input.

Anthing in particular that I should look at when I check the car out again tomorrow?  I'll double check the rear frame, floors, trunk, quarters and fenders.  Anything else that I should check or look for?

Yes, I got cold feet on the GTX because it doesn't have a title.  Someone else on the board is supposed to pick it up.  Any thoughts on the convertible?  I'm a bit nervous tying up a good bit of $$$ on a somewhat rough car.

I would have killed to have that 70 Cuda convert on ebay for that price!!!  I cant beleive they arent going for more than that.  Well looks like I can still hold hope of having one!!!  The dream is renewed!!!

Ok, given what I've seen on e-bay, I'll attempt to answer my own questions...

There were 1100 Barracuda convertibles made in 1970.  There were even less 'Cuda convertibles.  These cars are rare and this is one reason why they're bringing so much money. 

The latest rage is to take a '70 or '71 Barracuda convertible, clone it into a hemi-Cuda convertible, and drive it.  If you wreck it, you haven't destroyed a piece of history or a million dollar car.

There is not much difference in price between a '70 and '71 Barracuda convertible.  Both are equally desireable.  (True?)

If the car has the original drivetrain, that really does not do much for the value because it's value is really as a hemi-clone.

If this car is complete, the rear frame rails are solid, it has a clean title, the torque boxes are solid (is this a huge deal?), and if the rust is not excessive (quarter panel and trunk rust is to be expected and is not a big deal, right?), the market price for this car is roughly $25,000 - $30,000. 

If I were to purchase the car for $30,000, I would probably be paying too much.  $25,000 is an average price.  $20,000 would be a good deal.  $15,000 or less and I would be "stealing" the car.

I think 20 - 30 is your price range depending on the condition/missing parts if any.  My feeling is the 71 models are worth a little more.

Scott, what are you willing to pay for one of these? Just keep that in mind when you make an offer so you know if it's worth haggeling over. Keep us informed and get some pictures.

Plum6pack - I have a price on the car, it's in my price range, and I think it's a good price.  However, I don't want to pick it up if it's not a good deal because I'm not sure if I would be able to keep it.  Have several projects already to work on and running out of space.

Supposed to take a real good look at the car this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
