John,

How does this look?

Gary
You're the man  :worshippy
I love it! What do you guys think....black or silver/gray?
Solid or ghost "airbrushed" on car from Gary's stencil?
Why a stencil, so I can wax without problems.
Car color will be a light silver-blue high metallic with a white interior.

John,  I think silver would look great with your blue if you want subtle look to it.  Or, what color is your interior?  Might look cool to have the stripe match that...

Oh yeah, I'll try and swing by my buddy's shop later today and see if i can get a picture of what he did to his AAR hood - looks pretty cool.

When we ghost stripes or flames here at the shop, we just alter the body color slightly with either a pearl or one of the toners that is in the body color to whatever shade the owner is looking for, darker or lighter. Only adjust the color slightly because a little is all it takes for ghosting.

John,

Here's a picture of how my buddy painted his AAR hood.  Looks really good in person although something more subtle may look even better.

Thanks Gary, do you have a side photo to post? Is that a painted strobe stripe from a stencil?
I'm ready to buy the stripe stencil. My friend wants to 1st paint car black where stripes will be laid, 2nd place stencil over black, 3rd paint silver-blue metallic over stencil, 4th pull off stencil to reveal black strobe stripe.
Will stencil work this way and will it peel off easily?
I like the hood, but I would not connect thin line in front of air inlet and would go straight back with line of hood without that curve. Is this done w/ paint or stencil. I would want it solid black w/ 426 cuda to take place of where emblems would go. Can this also be done w/ stencil or do I have to paint it?

Can someone please take and post close-up pics of AAR inlet. :picture:
One from outside looking straight in to air filter. One from under hood b/c the finish in this area is not clear  :banghead: I want to get it as perfect as possible. Thanks

I have an old one, I believe it's an original because myself or a buddy of mine have had it since 1982 but I could be wrong. Does anyone know how to tell an original??

Anyway, it is split into it's assembly pieces, (top and bottom) and I can take some pics tommorow if you think it would help you but it's pretty rough...

Like I said, it's pretty rough.  When I pulled it out I noticed some blue jelcoat here and there. I'm wondering if that's original????

I took these at Carlise last year... I have more if you like as well as how the hood aligned with the fenders, gaps etc.
I can email you the rest if you like, I have a ton of AAR pics from the same trip but they are a bit too big to attach here, I resized these down to 30% of original.

I was thinking one possible way of simulating that look on a '73 would be to get a Coyote Duster 4BBL air cleaner off of 69ish 383 Road Runner or Super Bee. I see them on E-pay sometimes and they sure look cool on E-bodies.  Gives ya that 6BBL look without that 6BBL price

how about pearl white stipes/trim to matchup w/interior, maybe a darker blue outline to make stipe pop.  :bigshades:
