70 Challenger Flip-Top Cap help....
« on: March 08, 2006 - 10:02:18 PM »
Where can I get the inner pushbutton, locking gas cap for my 70 CHallenger?  I found the outer flip top cap & trim ring & rubber seal on Paddock parts website.  THanks, BUzz.

I got 1 last year, either Year One or Jim's Auto Parts ( yeah, I know about Jim's, but thankfully my experiences with Jim's weren't the horror story that some members have had ). It was plastic instead of metal, had the locking feature, and actually works and fits pretty good. Point being, those locking gas caps are available.

There is somebody on eBay that sells the locking caps. I purchased my flip-top from this seller aand I remember him offering the regular cap and a locking type. I bought the regular style because it was cheaper, but I do remember him having both.

sellers on ebay claim to sell them but I have never seen a picture of one that looks correct or one that has part 3's , etc...

There are a couple that offer a Stant brand gas cap but from what I can tell it is not correct for 70 - but for later model chally's (74-up??)

I have one promising lead but have yet to feel like I am not wasting my money...anyone ?? bueller...bueller.... :picture:

That is probably true that they aren't exactly the same. I know my cap works, fits great, and didnt cost a ton of money. Who will ever see the gas cap under the flip-top?? If he was looking for a numbers cap I dont think he would buy a reproduction flip-top......
