'70 cuda find, whats it worth?
« on: March 09, 2006 - 08:41:17 AM »
Hello, first post.  I am a detailer that detailed this original '70 cuda.  I was told it is 100% original.  Heres the stats that I know...

'70 AAR cuda 2 door
340 six-barrel
4-speed manual
30-35,000 miles
Orange with black hood and pins on hood

The guy said he was the original owner and had it in his garage since the 70's and was going to take it to local shows.  It's in Dayton, Ohio in case you are wondering.  So whats the market for one of these?

 :wow:

WOW, is that for sale?

They have gone from 11,000 for a major project to over 100,000 for  nice complete numbers cars.

If the engine numbers and transmission numbers match the body VIN then it is matching numbers. I would of sold it if someone offered me $150,000 for the car.

Numbers means that the motor's and transmission's serial numbers match those of the car. You must be careful when checking these, to also check the dates cast into the motor and transmission, as some examples of restamped numbers have shown up in the past. You must also verify by the fender tag, vin number, and if available, broadcast (build) sheet, that the drivetrain in the car is how the car was built. Typically this adds to the value of the car. Keep in mind however that many of these cars were used as intended; racing. Many of the original drivetrains are MIA in a lot of these cars. Finding a car with a documented race history can be just as great a find as finding a numbers car.

No spoiler.  Didn't know it was supposed to have one.

So you saw this one eh? I've seen it once since we did it, nice.
Huber Heights is where we are located, close to the I70 - I75 interchange.  My dad is the one who detailed it.  He makes his own products, wax and all.  I am not sure if this site will allow me to tell you who we are because I work there. :nono:

That car is not worth $150,000, no where near that.  If he told you that he is full of it.  That car needs a lot of work and appears to be missing some stuff which would make me wonder about the car, something smells fishy.  Only the best of the best AAR/ T/A's are heading into the 100,000 range.  I was there for the 8 mile T/A at the Mecum auction that went to 100,000 but that was an oddball.  I'd have a professional come out and go over the car, check all the body numbers and such, see if it is legit.
