That's a toughie without more info. Stock or built-up? Auto, or stick shift?

With a stick, I've always prefered mechanical secondaries (double pumper) :thumbsup:

 I've always liked Double pumpers better, but I've always run single plane intakes with an automatic.  How is the Double pumper for a duel plane with an automatic compared to a vac secondary? Is the double pumper still better?
 I picked up my first duel plane which is an Air Gap RPM for my 340 and happen to have a 700 DP laying around.

I am by NO means an expert, but I just could never get a vacuum secondary carb to work for me(I have an automatic). I have a duel plane, but that isn't the problem. I always had a slight bog when I floored it. I tried messing with different secondary springs, but I never solved the problem. Since the double-pumper always did the trick, I'm sticking with it.  :burnout:

i always prefered mechanical 'cause the let you control the WHEN !!! especially on multi-carb cars. there's nothing more annoying or more dangerous than a high powered car that launches on you unexpectedly.. also they make launching.
with street tires more do-able.

Vacuum secondarys are very good for gas mileage, heavy cars and general performance useage.
Mech. secondarys are great for 4spd cars, very hi po auto trans cars and excellent for the track. Light cars as well.
This is not to say that the list as writin above can not be reversed, it's just best sutied in this manor and easier to do in that order.
The amount of power the car has along with cars weight, intended purpose, cam size, intake style, rear gears and tire size would be good info to make a recomendation on what carb style and size to use. Sometimes, the info will almost dictate what should be the best choice for your car.

 :icon16:   me too.     Chevys, Olds' and Mopars...   double pumpers always came through when the vac secondaries were just flops.
