Does it matter which SB truck bellhousing to use?Or is there one for all 4 speeds trannies for the years Chryco stated?Does the OD really help on the freeway?thanks again

Just make sure you don't get a bellhousing from a truck with a heavy duty granny low transmission as they are completely different. Over the years I have found numerous trucks in yards with the 833OD removed but, the bellhousing was still there. If the tranny is gone the thing to look for is the side mounted shifter hump in the floorboard. The 833OD was the only one with a side mounted shifter, the granny gear trans has a top mounted shifter.

Have I got the link for you. I am still looking around for my E-body but this was the transmission I was going to go with. They even support any E-Body automatic (convert to a manual 5 speed). The kit includes everything you need to make it a 5 speed but you will pay for it. Autos even come with pedals, the floor hump sheet metal and everything to make it work.

Thats pretty sweet but very spendy too.I can get into an 833od with everything for well under 500 bucks.To me one extra gear isnt worth 2 grand.I would love to have one of those though,thanks

WOuld the 833od use all the same clutch disc,pressure plate,ect as the a833?thanks

most 833s are 23 spline OD included so yes unless you have a rarer 18 spline HD [hemi] trans

It would seem to reason that if you had the hemi od,you would need hemi 4 speed stuff like in b@e bodies

the 18 spline has to have a different clutch disc with 18 splines obviously & needs a different release brg with larger ID to fit, the belhousing , flywheel , pressure plate etc are all the same pieces

DOH,we werent talking a hemi trans,I have had many of those in b bodies so i know what they are,but the hemi OD trans!They never put them in b or e bodies but must have been another later model truck.
