Moparnut

I you don't get a clutch fork from Chryco just use a mid 80's Dodge 100 with a 833OD for an application at your local dealer. Make sure to get the pivot ball also. I called on one last week and they were around $70.

I read that Chryco told you that you will need the early style fork and not the ball type. I see them on ebay and sometimes at swap meets. Look for the one that's 10-3/4 overall length and don't buy the 12-1/2" one.

Sorry about the clutch fork....I didn't see that you bought an early one. I doubt you can get that through a dealer. I wonder what year they switched to the ball type?

I bought my last clutch fork(for a big block) from Brewer's after having a problem with my original. The spring was weak on mine and caused it to push the throwout bearing to far forward. You might try pricing them to get the right one, plus it will be new.

The seller says i need a 12@3/4 fork,I emailed brewers with pics and they said that bell wont work with my car and it wont even bolt up to a 833.The seller says brewers is wrong,so i guess i will have to wait until it arrives for me to check it out

I saw the bolt pattern on the back of that and thought it looked a little strange.  I'll send up a pic of what it should look like from the trans end. I didn't see the common 833 bolt holes and thought that they were just dirty.

Like i said,I have crappy ebay luck, hopefully if this isnt the right one and it doesnt look to be,the seller is a stand up guy and takes care of it.I am tired of this and may rethink going to an OD bell and just ordering one right from brewers, then i know it will be right.Or I will find a regualr bell and have the machining done so it fits
thanks again.

I have my 2 OD tranny's front retainers turned down. That way If I break gears showing off, I'll just pull it out and stick a regular 833 onto the standard bellhousing and get back on the road. I don't like having my car down,to miss something like a cruise or the Mopar Nats, etc. Winter time is the time for fixing the problems.

MoparNut,
Here is a pic od my OD-833 with the front bearing retainer turned down. If you compare the OD-833 front bearing retainer that you have, yours has the larger retainer still on it. This is the piece that you have to have turned down to fit an older small block bellhousing. Now look at the trans bolt holes for mounting to the bell.
Here is my BigBlock bellhousing with the same matching holes. My small block bellhousing (not pictured)  has 2 sets of holes, One set for the standard 833 and also one set for a 3 speed. I also took a picture from that ebay bellhousing that you bought. I see 2 sets of holes too, but I don't see the matching holes to fit your OD-833.   Take a look.
From the looks of yours, I think that you got the wrong one.

I agree that bellhousing does not look right. The bolt pattern looks familiar though. I am going to go and check a bellhousing that I have for a 435 New Process HD 4 speed truck tranny down in the shop to compare.

Moparnut,

I am afraid you got the wrong bellhousing.

Check this Ebay link. It looks just like your bellhousing and the seller is stating it was out of a '79 Dodge with the New Process 435 Tranny. That is a granny low heavy duty trans with the top mounted shifter.

Sorry for the bad news.
