Sorry, I didn't uderstand the question.  Maybe I should delete that last post.  (remember, I just think I'm a smart ass)
There a (3) 23 spline 833 trannys, that I know of. And I have all 3.  (not counting the short a-body tailshafts)
If you look at that bellhousing  bolt pattern, you'll see that it fits a 3 speed with a square bolt pattern and the 833. It's just that that center hole is for that smaller bearing and Front bearing retainer.

How is Chryco going to shorten this thread for the archives? Up to 8 pages now.

LOL no problem I am a SA too,I just havent been because you are helping me understand all of this stuff, otherwise i would probably be a little more smartass-ish.I was always taught there is no such thing as a dumb question and while most people take years to learn i ask stupid questions to learn more quickly. Then i might be able to help others like you are doing with me and no exactly what i am looking for when i find it.While my GC is my first total mopar resto(I have had many mopars but never did the work myself). Now if we were talking Ferd early broncos(I have restored a few before my MOpar sickness took over)I can tell you anything about them from wheel to wheel, what parts will interchange yada yadda yadda

MN, Here's a link to http://www.jimsautoparts.com/mopar_performance_manual_trans.htm    There's a complete 10.5" heavy duty clutch setup at the bottom for $189.  And it shows most of the parts that might be needed for switch over. Forks, rods, flywheels, etc.

Moparnut, if planning on ordering read through this thread and make sure all his ducks are in order before you commit to buying something. A lot of negative feedback.

I looked at Brewers and Passon and they have some great stuff as well. Passon seemed to have better prices.

I bought a small starter from him at the Mopars Nats in '94. Haven't bought anything since. I woulld call Mancini or Summit for a matched price, if you're afraid of Jims. I'm reading on other Mopar sites that a 10.95 clutch should fit a small block aluminum bellhousing, but I haven't tried it myself.  Any one here tried this?

10.95 fits the 130 tooth flywheel used in small block & 70 up applications this is what I always use over the 10.5"
I Like the McLeod B7B or B&B long style as well

Well, it looks like that is what came on the e-bodies, the 4.3something?  Here is a link for the part numbers on those parts and their application. The ones with 8 holes on the rear will accept both the 3 speed and 4 speed trans.
I have the bellhousings that will accept the O/D 833, with the 4.80" hole but they are in the cars and can't pull them to read the inside numbers. Does anyone here know the part numbers for this bellhousing?

OK now I'm really confused,I thought i was told to just get a 4 speed bell and turn my front retainer down to 4.80 but a standard bell is 4.30 and i doubt you can turn them down that much, back to square one-What am i really looking for?

OK, let me give this a shot. You bought an 833OD tranny which has a 5.2" front retainer. Your original 833 and bellhousing should be a matched 4.8". So a standard 833 E body bellhousing should be 4.8". The smaller 4.3" bellhousing must either be for an early model 833 or a 3spd?? As far as you getting a bellhousing, I personally think it would be easier to get a bellhousing and the fork off a small block truck which already has the 5.2" hole, therefore avoid having your bearing turned down. Now, as far as someone selling a bellhousing on ebay for a smallblock truck, i'm not sure. It would be worth doing a search. Just make sure it has the proper bolt pattern for the 833od and not the square pattern.  Either that or just look for a bellhousing with a 4.8" (4 3/4") hole and the proper bolt pattern (which can be seen from a picture a few pages back).

This looks like the right one if you use Shelbydogg's reference page, casting # 2892482, and its aluminum with a fork. However it doesn't say what the size of the hole is, I assume 4.8".

Man I'm not looking forward to sourcing all these parts. It's looking like an expensive swap from  Auto to 4-spd, I've seen trannys cheaper then the pistolgrip shifter.  :banghead:

I think you are right, luckiy I am not in a hurry for these parts but wanted to learn something along the way.I'll go back to my original thought, that was to find all the stuff from a truck or van somehow, the search begins..................Argh
