how about a better performing site?
« on: March 13, 2006 - 05:41:57 PM »
I am on a high speed connection at home and at the office and I guess I am just spoiled. Being in the IT field I quickly become accustomed to 3-5 second response time for any page. This site does ok but alot of times seems to lag after the first two or three pages.

I know there were some MySQL connection issues earlier but this just sucks when you really want to browse a thread. Is this site running off of someones desktop PC from their home or what?    :dunno:

There's a LOT that C-C.Com offers to us as users, friendships, information, humor, and just a great place to hang out and spend time.  All of this is essentially DONATED, let me repeat, DONATED by Ross.  I for one have NOTHING but gratitude for that.  The issues aren't all that bad considering the price I pay to use this forum.
Thanks Ross.

Romi,
Thank you for the kind words.  What you say is true, I am trying to do what I can to give back to the Mopar community.  Because of certain arrangements I have going, its not quite as simple as just switching servers, lest I step on a few toes.  I am aware of the problems we are having and have been considering solutions.  I promise I wont let the site degrade, what we are experiencing is temporary.  I ask people please be patient while I figure out how to best handle it.  It will get better I promise.

Yes, thanks Ross for the site and all you've done to keep it going for us to enjoy, and thanks to the other mods too.
If you have to ever swap servers, PLEASE back this one up first. We lost ALOT of killer info and pictures on the last server swap.

Thanks Ross!     It's nice to know that you are working as hard as you can, all the while being careful of other folks. We don't see the "Big Picture" like you do.  I know you will do all you can considering everything involved. Thanks again!  ..     :cooldancing:    ...Oldschool

Dude - lighten up with that attitude. Maybe you are on a dial up connection? I dont pay anything to browse Moparts or Ebay and they perform pretty well.

Ross - It goes without saying but since Romi has decided to bring this up let me say again as I have in the past, that I (we)appreciate the effort and resources that you and Simon put into this site. It a great site for Ebody enthusiasts but the performance and stability could be improved.

That said, can we entertain some technical discussion on what the issues are and what we can possibly do as members to improve it? I know you are not a fan of commercial sponsorship, how about donations?

Ross

I'm not even sure what I did with my time before I found this site. The people , the information and the kindness showed to each other is the way it should be. Sometimes I have trouble connecting and I enjoy a DSL line. But I know your doing what you can. I don't mind the wait as much as I would mind if the site was not here at all.
Thanks for all that you do.
