       GOOD LUCK DAVE  Hope you do it, I been trying for 5 years now  I cut back but I haven't given up ToTal on them  It was the worst thing I started in my life  on this  Earth How many day has it been just keep saying to your self that you can do it :clapping:

    I smoke...bout 15 a day...use to smoke a pack. I love it....good for drinking and the best after a meal.  :smokin:
    I'll smoke till I die.  :lol2: People die of cancer all the time, many don't drink or smoke, so I don't see any risks....

    Certainly there are more risks if you smoke. But Christopher Reeve's widow just passed away at age 44 of lung cancer. She never smoked. I'm hardly a doctor, but I think heredity can either help, or hurt you in some cases. My family has a history of high blood pressure. Most are old farts, but they have to take something for it. I guess my day will come.  :dunno:  I hope I didn't just hi-jack a joke thread!!! That would be a first!!!   :roflsmiley:

    Well it's not really a joke thing, but I understand your thinking. I've tried several times before with no luck. Maybe this forum could be my support group they talk about??? I had a camera shoved down my nose into my throat 2 weeks ago and the Doc said I was cancer free. But I do have LPR. That's where you have acid come up PAST your esophagus into your vioce box and throat. It makes you cough and choke and feels like you have a lump in your throat. I'm now on Nexium. I would appreciate any support people can give me, and Common 27 and I have a good relationship and a good time at work, (although we give each other a lot of s--t!!!!)     Sorry, what I meant to say was of course there are risks when it comes to smoking....but when people die of Cancer etc without smoking or drinking it makes me think anyone can die of anything at anytime.

    So, I'll enjoy myself while I'm here.......
    If I spend 2 months in a hospital bed in exchange for 60+ years smoking...that sounds fair enough to me. lol

    One good thing about smoking is you usually are cutting out the nursing home years! Your wife and/or kids won't have to sell your car to pay an exorbitant fee for your care. My mother in laws' sister still smokes and is in great shape for her 89 years so go figure. :smokin:

    The hard part about quitting smoking is in the morning. As soon as you have that first cup of coffee...you're done...lightin up a smoke is the next thing that comes to mind.

    George Burns said he use to smoke a cigar every morning! and HE lived until he was almost 100 years old!! and cigars are worse than cigerettes!!  :grinyes: so smoking must not be all that bad if he lived that long!! but on the other hand my father smoked until he was 68 and now he has all kinds of lung diseases along with emphasema and he quit cold turkey with the patch (thank god) so there is both sides of that coin!! just my  :2cents: good luck Dave if my dad can do after 57 years you can too!! :thumbsup:

    NZ, this sounds like you are trying to give yourself a reason to keep on smoking.

    Less you smoke, longer/healthier you'll live is really the undisputed truth.
    My city has a bylaw that takes effect 2007 that all public places will be smoke free!!  Finally will be able to go out for a drink and not come home stinking!!

    Last summer they made all restaurants smoke free in Georgia.  I love it!!  Keep it up Dave...you can do it!
