Hey big Mike, the 833 OD is the way to go as Niel said. I put one in my Cuda last year and am more that happy with it :) I have 3:91 gears and have awesome bottom end and still have not found top speed :o Was messing with 130 mph and had more to go but was a little to afraid ::) Cuda Brian

Hey, I just read this message and was curious to know how the OD unit is holding up?  I have a 68 Cuda that I am restoring.  I have and 833 OD unit, but am a little concerned about the wide spread with the gears.  Has some thoughs of using the Gearvendors unit or going with the Tremec unit.

I hate to say this but I was think of a kellers 5 speed also.  BUT  I got a book about Dodge Chargers history. There was an artical in this book that used 2 identical 383 Charger. The only dif was one had a 3 speed and one had the 4 speed. From what I understand the 3 speed has basicly the same gear spread as the 833 od.  In all the drag test the 3 speed only came in .10 -.20 slower than the 4 speed trans.   This pluse the help of Chryco Psycho

Thanks Guys, by the way, what kind of engines are you using in your rigs?  Curious to know the HP/Torque you are pushing through the 833 OD unit.

I am planning on putting an 833OD in both the Challenger and the Road Ruster.  Anyone know of a good source for rebuilding info?  I figure I should go through them before I use them.

I might be able to point you to a few pieces of information that I found.  Here's a link to a web page that outlines some interesting facts about the 4 speed and basics on rebuilding.

http://www.slantsix.org/articles/4-speeds/ODA833fourspeed1.htm

It also has information on a couple of articles written by Rick Ehrenberg on the 833.  Other than that, check out any tech manual.

I used the OD behind my 525 Hp 440 & raced it for 9 years , I didn`t have a trailer & the track was 2 hours away [at 70 mph], I broke 3 8 3/4 diffs & pulled the wheels 2-3 ' every launch at between 55-6500 rpm

Well, that certainly boasts that the 833 OD will take the abuse.  I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.  Thanks for the input.

hey cuda, what kind of rpm do you turn at 70 mph? I really like the sound of being able to cruise on the highway, without having to spend 3000$ on a 5 speed

Out of curiosity, what were you turning when you got your car up 130? :)
While you ford and chevy guys are arguing, the Dodge boys are waiting at the finnish line for you to hurry your asses up.
