lower control arm painted "chromate"?

I have seen some lower control arms on restos painted what looks like a yellow zinc chromate color. Does anyone know if this is correct, somewhat correct, occasionally correct? Anyone know any specifics on the paint such as code #, source, etc? Also, would anyone know if e-body lower control arms are the same as 69 b-body? Thanks,

I experimented with an old LCA and had it zinc plated and then sprayed it with clear.  Color appears to be fairly close with what originally was on the cars.

Weren't the original ones bare metal and coated with cosmoline than made them look sort of yellow/gold?

Exactly....and only about 3/4 of them were dipped in cosmoline, not the entire arm.

Actually they could be dipped entirely or up to some point before the ball joint socket or even dipped in black paint.
