She's In!
« on: March 25, 2006 - 05:20:54 PM »
I installed the 408 today.  It went pretty smooth except for the Milodon pan which is up against the k-frame. I'll have to notch the frame.  I put the TTI headers in from underneath which is fine except the oil filter and starter have to be off.  I could of hung the headers in place perhaps and dropped the engine down in over top of them. Someone was asking about whether to mount the tranny first or put it  in later.  I would definitely mount it first and drop the whole assembly in.  A levelling bar helps alot.   Lots of work to be done yet before I can fire it up.  I'll order the TTI exhaust system next week.

Thanks guys.  I should have it running in about 3 weeks.  It still needs exhaust, driveshaft, electrical checked out, rad hoses sorted, clutch and shift linkage installed, gauges hooked-up, etc.  Yikes, maybe late April.  I can't wait though! I really don't have much of a feel for how it will sound with the Hughes roller hyd cam and the TTI x-pipe exhaust or how fast it will be compared to my big block Demon (gone now).  I'll send more pics once I've made some more progress.

Thanks for the interest everyone.  I did find a few problems this morning.  The passenger side header is up against the scattershield and the scattershield is hitting the tunnel to firewall seam.  A little work with the grinder should fix this.

The engine is a pre-magnum 360, zero decked, deckplate honed with an Eagle 4" stroker steel crank, Eagle rods, forged dished pistons w/file fit rings 10.5:1, balanced, Edelbrock Magnum heads w/back cut valves and dual springs, Hughes hydraulic roller cam and lifters, Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1.6 rockers and pushrods, Edelbrock Performer RPM Magnum intake, Holley HP Street 750 carb, TTI headers.
