    Leaky power steering box

     My power steering box is leaking around the adjusting nut on the top, even though the adjusting nut is tight. What kind of a seal is under the adjusting nut? Does anyone know it's official name so I'll know what to ask for? and do auto parts places carry this or do I have to go to the dealer? Is it just an O ring that I can pick up at the hardware store?

    I don't know the name but I bought the kit with all the seals from car quest for $15.00. Or you can try an additive like Lucas.

    I'm not 100% sure, but I don't know if you can change the top seal. Mine is leaking and I bought a new steering box from the local parts store for 175cdn. Didn't put it in yet though.

    I have the same question and the picture is long gone on this thread. I rebuilt my box with a new seal kit and have an o-ring under the ajusting nut. I am guessing I put the correct thing in their, been too long ago. Anyways it leaks under the nut and on top of the nut coming up through the threads. I tried putting a fatter o-ring in because the one I had in their looked to small to me, well that made it worse  :clueless:

    I ended up sticking a thicker/fater o-ring and I think it is ok. But so far I am just using a drill to spin the pump. Be along time before I actually get it running to truely test it.
