Sold my 'Cuda and Charger Today - buying "dreamcar"
« on: March 31, 2006 - 03:48:09 AM »
Well, I sold my 74 'Cuda  and 73 Charger Today. :22yikes:  Kind- of sad :'(  but am buying something I've aspired to .

The 'Cuda is better and faster than when I bought it due to knuckle busting and $$ invested by me.
 I'll miss it, it's a rare one.   1 of 398    1974 'Cudas made with the 360 / 4 speed combo.
 Black on Black w/ V5X

The Charger is a 1973 Rallye 340 car. A True Survivor. Extremely original. I was 2nd owner. A no Bull$hit, bought
new by a 63 yr old grandmother car.

Transporter is coming for them on Monday.  :faint:

I'm trading them in towards a Noble M400.  It's a British "supercar".  Very light, extremely agile, devastatingly quick.
The name is derived from the horsepower to weight ratio.  400 HP per ton !!

The car comes as a rolling chassis. It's up to me to assemble and install the complete drivetrain.  That is one of the
big draws for me. That I'll be doing a good amount of wrenching to get it mobile. I considered a Viper, but they are too common
to justify  selling my Mopars for .  It will be painted a Chrysler color - "Black Lava" a custom PPG color I chose.

I hope their new owners love them and treat them as well as I did...
Here is a link to the North American importers for some pics of the Noble  --  www.1gracing.com
This was an agonizing decision and I'll be broke [$$] for a few years, but I think it'll be worth it :drunk: :burnout:
I'll be keeping the Aspen Super Coupe and '03 Ram Hemi truck to satisfy my Mopar cravings !
And I'll still be hanging out here as it is a great board  :chatting:

If your happy, I'm happy...pity though, ain't nothing like big bad MoPar Muscle.  :wavingflag:
Looks like a nice car, light and nimble, kind of like a Mclaren-F1's brother.

Sounds as though your happy so good for you mate.

It looks close enough to a Viper that if you painted it like one, nobody would know the difference.

There's been a lot of positive feedback about the Noble here in the UK; it's usually sold here with a twin-turbo V6 from Ford. Have you thought out what engine / drivetrain combo you're gonna add in to the mix?

Thanks for the positive feedback so far-
I am going to put in the twin turbo ford with the Getrag 6 speed.  As much as I'd like to have a Mopar drivetrain in there, I don't have the additional money to re-engineer a different engine [ that needs to fit transversely]  - maybe in a few years when  it is paid off I can figure out how to get a Mopar drivetrain into  it... :clueless:

So are you done with Muscle altogether? Or will you look to fill that gap in a few years time?
If you are, keep the Ford running gear and save the MoPar drivetrain money for an actual MoPar.

NZ- Well the 1978 Aspen Super Coupe has the E-58 Police Interceptor 360 cubic inch/ 4 barrel motor in it from the factory so I am keeping that to tinker with and make it faster.  Plus it has big 'ol factory fender flares and spoilers , console shifter with the slapstick mechanism, factory 15x8" rims, suregrip rear, and a few other goodies so it will be my musclecar for now.
Sold both my Mitsubishi Starions and a 5.0 liter mustang as well to "thin the herd" and raise more money for the Noble.

List of Mopar musclecars owned in past- '69 charger, '72 barracuda, '70 Charger R/T, '74 roadrunner, '73  340 Duster, '70 300 Hurst 440cu in, '73 Roadrunner/GTX 440, '74 Charger, and these two I just sold.  I'll probably always have a musclecar of some sort.  You can add in a couple of 1970 Mercury Cougars 351 as well. And a Chrysler Conquest with about 320Horsepower.
I had to keep at least one musclecar, and the Super Coupe , frankly, is worth the least $$ of the three I had , so it gets to stay by that price default.
All of them were runners-drivers-fully functional so I've never really been without.....

Looks like it could be fun. But IMO a bad decision, but then again, to me absolutely NOTHING can or will replace my humble Mopars. I literally would give up body parts first, can't explain it but it is factual. Have fun.

Looks like an interesting car... and if you think that it is worth two mopars, it must be!

One question, though - left hand or right hand drive?

Looks like a fun ride but more of an exotic sports car look than a Viper. When I get too old to restore Mopar muscle cars I might do the same thing you did and sell off a couple and buy a nice Viper but of course keep my `72 Barracuda.
