Need an appraisal
« on: March 31, 2006 - 11:44:25 PM »
Need an appraisal, don't want this one to get away    :banghead:    Sorry, but no pictures available. What should I expect to pay for the following car? 1970 Dodge Challenger convertible, fully restored. Clear title, tag, sheet. Originally a 318 car. Now equipped with 440 6-pack and automatic. Not many options otherwise, maybe air. On a scale of 1-10, it's a solid 8.5  Can anyone give me a ball park on it's value? Thanks

I'll go first....

First of all it sounds like a really nice ride.
It's hard to say without seeing photos and color can make a big difference.
IMHO the car would be worth roughly $50,000+/- Here is a weird rag top on eBay right now it's a 1971 "T/A" 340-6bbl, no T/A's were made in 71 nor were they ragtops so this lowers the value. Yours however is a correct clone.

Contact your insurance agency they should be able to hook you up with a professional appraiser, after all you will need to insure it.  :bigshades:

When dropping this kind of coin on that kind of car, get someone who knows E-bodies AND bodywork to check the car out. The car is worth whatever you want to spend. I'd be very afraid of buying a poorly done car...I've seen too many 10 footers for sale at big dollars....go figure.

My car is pretty much what you are describing, originally a 318 convertible car, now cloned to a 440-6pack car. Mine is probably closer to a 9, maybe a little higher. I've seen cars like that go for the low to mid-50 range. But, yeah, it's got to be a solid car.
