I was already to say the dashpad must come out, but if you have the windshield out, that makes it a really interesting question.  :screwy: I guess what I would do first, is see if you can get the dashcap to fit nicely without any glue applied to it. The only problem I can see is maybe the sides would be tough to get flat.  :dunno:

:canada: :nzflag:

1. do you remove the old pad with the cap job?
2. If not, how do you get the pad to hide the ugly cracks?
3. Do you glue the whole piece down like a kitchen countertop?
4. Will it be easier to do the job in the car or out of the car?(my windshield can stay out for this)

1. You don't remove the old pad.
2. If the cracks are really bad, and stick up like mine did, you cut the old foam down , make the old pad as even as possible.
3. Mine came with glue from Palco.
4. I think it would be just as easy to do with it in the car.  It seems like it would be a lot of trouble to take the dash completely out.  Having the windshield out would make it a lot easier, because the worst part for me was getting the screws holding the dash out and then baack in again.
I just loosened the dash and it kind of swivels forward enough to get the pad on.

I got my dash cap. Before I put it on I was told someone had it on for the 1st year and it looked great, but 2-3 yrs later it's looking worse. Has anyone had it on for more than a year or two and is still happy with the way it looks?
If I put it on and years from now I'm not happy can I have the dash taken out to be redone or will it cap interfere with redoing dash b/c I hear it's a  :banghead: to get off.

How so exactly? Thats the first I have heard of that. Mine had been on awhile when I got my car and looked like new. I removed it because the idiots had done a real sloppy job of installing it (large cutouts AROUND the side speakers so they didnt have to remove them......nice) and installed a new one I got from another member and she looks like new.

Maybe if it were a driver car that was exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time? Interested to know what exactly started looking worse    :clueless:

How long is a while?
The car I heard about has the dash warping a little and is noticeable after 3 years.

a couple of years anyway according to receipts. I will have to watch out for that (and be sure to use one of those large foldout sun visors!)
